+Insp Gadget
I was creating a route with Mapsource from Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada to Sydney, Nova Scotia. Mapsource told me the trip would be 663km, which is about right, but the time to make this trip would be 927 days, 12 hours and 57 min!!!! I tried the same with version 6.8 and this problem did not show up. Anyone else notice something like this? I would attach a screen capture, but really have no idea how to...... CenTexDodger
Yeah, I reported that problem to Garmin yesterday, Except it told me that a 500 mile trip would take 38000 days! Sorry I don't have 100 years for a trip. Quote Link to comment
+Insp Gadget
Were you taking a detour to Venus? LOL Quote Link to comment
CenTexDodger
According to Mapsource I was! Seriously, report it to Garmin so they can get it fixed before they come out with the final version. I also reported that I did not like the way they changed the autorouting to "avoid/prefer" for each road type. I liked it better when you could manually set the speed for each type of road. This new system will draw some funky routes if you aren't careful! Quote Link to comment
+Insp Gadget
I passed it along to Garmin Tech Support. I'm sujre it's just something minor to fix up. On a related note, I was using my 60C the other day. Asked it to create a route from one cache to another which was about 5km away. It took me on this strange route covering a distance of over 800km!! Quote Link to comment
Neo_Geo
Mapsource Beta V6.9.0.2, Is now available, and has corrected this issue. Quote Link to comment

Me too; then, I noticed my routing preference was set to pedestrian instead of vehicle. Quote Link to comment
CenTexDodger
When it gave me 38000 days it was set to "car/motorcycle". Quote Link to comment
+Crusso
I refuse to upgrade because they took away the real time tracking ability. Quote Link to comment
+Insp Gadget
You can always use NRoute for real time tracking..... Quote Link to comment
+Crusso
Already a thread on this..... Gotta open mapsource, download the gps, close mapsource, reinitialize my ports, restart the laptop, open nroute, import the file I saved from Mapsource, then start the tracking. Yeah, that's convenient... Quote Link to comment
+Insp Gadget
Ewwwwwwwww, that sucks..... Quote Link to comment
+tls11823
Gotta open mapsource, download the gps, close mapsource, reinitialize my ports, restart the laptop, open nroute, import the file I saved from Mapsource, then start the tracking. Strange - I can run them both at the same time without any problems. Things available to one program are available to the other. Why do you have to go thrugh all of those steps? Quote Link to comment
+Crusso
When either Nroute or mapsource has a connection to the GPS first and then I try to use the other program it says that the port is unavailable. Also, how do you get ure waypoints from the GPS into Nroute? You have to go through Mapsource. It's a pain. Quote Link to comment

I agree that it could be more convenient, but the functionality in nRoute is far superior to the GPS tab in MapSource. I did find that if you click "Select Device" from the menu or toolbar and bring up the unit selection dialog, it disconnects from the unit. Then I transfer from the unit using Mapsourse, copy the waypoints I want and paste them into nRoute. It works in the other direction too. Quote Link to comment
Doug in Alaska
Well I've never been into the beta thing. When I need my GPS, I really need my GPS so I've been a little leary about trying an unproven update. Anyway, just my opinion. However, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea when the finished update will be released. The interface with google earth has me interested. Quote Link to comment

You listed at least 4 steps neccessary to do something that should be seemless and simple. Quote Link to comment
+AtoZ
That is why it is a BETA version, LOL. cheers Quote Link to comment

No need to go through the GPSr. Quote Link to comment
