Csv Files And Mapsource

I've downloaded a CSV file from the Geodashing site with all the waypoints for October. I'd like to view these in Mapsource but it won't handle that file format.

 

Does anyone know of a way to convert the CSV file?

Try a copy of GPS Utility, that does allsorts of file conversions

GPSBabel is free, and can convert it to a wide range of formats.

 

But be warned that the file with all of the dashpoints is very big, and may cause MapSource to grind to a halt and crash...

You're probably better off doing a search by city, for the nearest 500km or so. And that will let you download the points in a choice of formats.

Thanks for all the pointers. I'll try them all and see which works the best.

 

I'm aware of the size of the file but I'm gonna trim it in Excel to show only the 20-30 dashpoints for Ireland.

That's exactly what I did. I couldn't easily identify the Irish waypoints so I used the search facilty and got my download as .mps
