+scott9282 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 So, here I am ready to upgrade from my sportrakmap paperweight to a new unit. After careful consideration I narrowed it down to the Garmin 60C or one of the Lowarance units. Then they started playing games with the price on the Garmin. Rebates, no rebates. It's $319, no it's 379, no wait, ShopNBC has it for $300. No wait, it's up 50% due to demand. Enough of that. So I look hard at the Lowrance IFinder ProPlus. I'm liking what I see. I admit that the product emulator seems to have a steep learning curve, but hey, I've got the time. It seems to be able to work with GSAK, so I'm thinking I'm good there. Now, on ePinions I see the ProPlus listed for $227, shipping included. Before I jump on this (that price is at least $20 less than the other places), does anyone know anything about Page Computers. It is in Los Angeles according to their website, but that's about all the info I could get. Anyone know anything about their service, reliability, etc? Also, any thoughts on the ProPlus? I feel like I'm joining a cult, but if it works, I'm okay with that.
Neo_Geo Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Well, about two years ago, I bought a flight simulator yoke from them and had a smooth transaction. I found out about them from using NEXTAG or PRICEGRABBER. They had a good price on the device and good reviews from previous customers. I guess a lot can change in two years - CLICK HERE to view current customer reviews. Seems like they're getting mixed reviews now.
Hoary Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 AFAIK, lee_rimar purchased his iFinder H2O from them recently. In case, tigergps.com has a price match policy: http://www.tigergps.com/about-us.html (scroll down to "Low Price Guarantee")
tossedsalad Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Hmmm... Page Computers seems pretty dodgy to me. I always check a new (to me) vendor with ResellerRatings.com. Here is the link about Page Computers... ResellerRatings The first 7 entries on this company have 5 "Very Dissatisfied", a "Somewhat Satisfied" and just one "Very Satisfied" report. I recommend reading more than just the first page on any vendor, but for this company it doesn't get much better. Heck, with a 6 month rating of only 4.4 out of 10, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot charge card. In contrast, look at Newegg. A 6 month rating of 9.59 and the first 21 entries are all "Very Satisfied" except for one "Somewhat Satisfied" and a "Neither Satisfied nor Dissatisfied" and that was only because the first unit they sent was DOA... no problem returning it or with shipping or response. Newegg is solid gold! Too bad they don't sell GPSs. 8* Actually they DO!!! Just not the Lowrance, only Garmin and Magellan. But ResellerRatings does product searches. I don't know how vendors are included in the search, I assume they have to pay. But here is the search on the iFinderPro. Good luck
+user13371 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 AFAIK, lee_rimar purchased his iFinder H2O from them recently. Someone mentioned me? They had what I wanted, and the best price when I was ready to buy, by a good margin. They delivered as promised, though it took a few longer than expected. I'd buy from them again, if there was a similar price benefit, product was in stock, and I was willing to wait a week for the item.
+Airmapper Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 In contrast, look at Newegg. I bought a 512 MB SD card from Newegg, transaction went smooth, got my card FedEx, and had no problems since, no spam or anything.
lost02 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I've ordered toner cartridges for my laser printer from Page Computers on three different occasions (most recent was 8/8/05). I've always received what I ordered when I expected to receive it, so no problems with them here.

Does anyone know how long it takes Tiger to respond to a low price guarantee question? I used their link yesterday, 9/23/05 at about 1 PM EDT. Still no response as of right now. Is there a set time period on this? Side note to Lee Rimar: did you make your purchase at Page Computers? I'm a little unclear from your post.

I sent my request on Thursday evening (after 5.00 pm) and got answer next morning (Friday). You sent yours on Friday after lunch - I guess Monday morning you're going to get something. Old empiric rule (Murphy's law?) - you couldn't get any results on Friday after lunch.
+user13371 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 (edited) ... did you make your purchase at Page Computers? I'm a little unclear from your post. Yes. In the interest of clarity, what didn't you understand? They delivered as promised ... I'd buy from them again. Edited September 25, 2005 by lee_rimar
+scott9282 Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 Sorry Lee, I'm a little dazed. Post surgical vicodin will do that to a person. On the plus side I have much time to research GPSr units and pester the living daylights out of people about it. BTW, I'm also annoying untold people on the Mythbusters website, I'm an equal opportunity pain in the butt.
+scott9282 Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 Ordered iFinderPro Plus through Page. Thanks for all the responses. Closing the thread to make room for other stuff.
