+flper Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Can someone give me the lowdown on this. It is better to turn it on when zeroing in on cache or use the whole way to the cache. I noticed that it lags a little. It was disabled on my GPS from factory. Thanks in advance FLPER Quote
+Airmapper Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 What's your unit? I leave WAAS on always, but then again it is how my unit came. I've heard WAAS will drain your batteries quicker, but you get better signal. If your in a hilly area with trees your probably not going to get WAAS reception anyway as the sattelites stay low on the horizon. Quote
+EraSeek Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 It simply a matter of personal choice. It will not make a huge difference. I leave mine on. If you do turn it on you need to be in an open area and allow it to intiallize. Takes maybe 20mins. Many don't use it because it is hard to get the WAAS sats sometimes, but they have put a new WAAS sat up and it should come on line this fall. Then it will be easier for many of us to get a signal where we couldn't before. Quote
+JohnnyVegas Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Just leave it on, it will not hurt anything if you do and can only improve you gps accuracy. Lets see how long it takes for all the junk science promoters to start posting reason not to use WAAS. But they cannot help, they just do not know what they are talking about Quote
