+ParrotRobAndCeCe Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 No, not your typical "mile marker 87 on I-95". I'm talking about mileposts of historic or geographic distinction, such as those along the old National Road or the Overseas Highway. Perhaps the category could be subdivided by geographical area or even by the road of significance, since a single road could have hundreds of posts. A great deal of historic posts are still standing, if you know or can find the original routing of the roads in question (many of which are unchanged even today).
+BlackstoneVal Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 There are a number of 18th century stone mileposts throughout New England which I enjoy finding. Then there are also some early 19th century ones from the turnpike and canal era as well as from mid to late 19thC along most of the railroad lines.
