_BBQ_ Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 What is the appropriate way to log a repeat visit to a cache? I would like to drop off a TB at a nearby cache that I enjoyed, but I'm not sure how to log it. I don't want to throw off my stats page or mess up the tracking of the TB. It doesn't seem right to click "found it" again, so should I use "Write note" on the "log your visit" page and drop the TB then? Thanks! Quote
garri Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 This topic was discussed some times. You can't find a chache that you know where is. If you log a cache for second time your finds stats will increase. You have to post a "note" visit Quote
Anonymous' Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Please post a note, there is nothing more frustrating then a cacher who posts finds for every time he goes to a cache to check on it. Quote
humanloofa Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I was guilty of this until I read about it in these forums, I have gone back and changed any repeat visits from found it to note. Quote
Super_Nate Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 Click the log link Log type: Post a note Date: It's up to you Then drop the TB or state the reason for your return visit. Quote
Huli Bearz Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Yes, Thanks! I went back and corrected my revisit to a "Note" The more I am learning the less I seem to know about this sport! Quote
Angry-Beaver Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Ok but what should I log if I go to a cache that was presumed lost in a flood and replaced with a new container and then on the way out found the original cache too. Did I not find two caches for the "first time"? Quote
WhatsRNutts Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 so does that mean when I took the kids to find caches that I had already found and knew they would be able to find and then logged it I shouldn't have?? Quote

You should log your repeat visit as a note, and if they have their own accounts, they can log finds on their accounts. Quote

The Source Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Im thinking the same thing, Takeing my kids to Caches I already so they have a chance to have the fun too. I will log it as a NOTE. Would it be ok to TAKE something and LEAVE something when repeating a Cache or would that be considered wrong to do ? J Quote
_BBQ_ Posted October 14, 2005 Author Posted October 14, 2005 so does that mean when I took the kids to find caches that I had already found and knew they would be able to find and then logged it I shouldn't have?? You could also give the kids their own Geocache identity and get them started on their own found lists. Quote
DanOCan Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Would it be ok to TAKE something and LEAVE something when repeating a Cache or would that be considered wrong to do ? I am by no means an expert, but I see nothing wrong with performing a trade while repeating a cache as long as the trade is documented in your note. Quote
