+Nekkar
OK, I’ve done my searches, and I know there is a limit on the size that a log posted on the cache page can be, but I couldn’t find what the size is, or what determines it. Is it the number of characters (letters and spaces)? Or lines? Or something else? Quote Link to comment
+the hermit crabs
I think it's 4000 characters. Quote Link to comment
Shoobie & the Sand Crabs
here is how you figure it out. type for very long time(doesn't matter what you type.) count all the characters. Quote Link to comment
Monkey Girl
Your log can actually be as long as you like. When you run out of characters, post that section of the log..then post the remainder as a note or notes. Are you actually going to post logs that long? If so, you may be the next Oregone. +Quoddy
Woops! I was logged in under my grandaughter's name when I posted the reply above. Quote Link to comment
+Ladybug Kids
I think it's 4000 characters. Yes, it is 4000 characters (counting spaces). If I know I will have a long log, I will type it in MSWord first. When the log is finished, I click on Properties, Statistics to get the character count. I'll split the log at a point where it makes sense and log the bottom half of the log first, then the top half, so the log reads top-down on the cache page. Can't claim to be like Oregone...have only done this a couple of times, most recently for minutes for an Event Cache. Edited September 15, 2005 by Ladybug Kids Quote Link to comment
+4leafclover
I think it's 4000 characters. it is...I know of a cacher who regularly pushes this limit. I find it hilarious, but his logs read like poetry. Quote Link to comment
4wheelin_fool
The more detailed the logs, the better. I hate seeing a smiley with just a "TNLNSL" Quote Link to comment
+Nekkar
I hate seeing a smiley with just a "TNLNSL" Me too. Save that for the log book. Although, I have to be honest, I don't always write a novel with every log. But every once in a while something strikes me and I get into a mood to elaborate, or at least exaggerate. Thanks for all your responses. Quote Link to comment
+TeamAO
I think it's 4000 characters. Yes, many cachers on the more interesting caches in the area seem to go over the 4,000 character limit. Then if they feel to type more, they just post a note to continue their cache log story. Cache hiders love to see the long story of hiding the cache, so go ahead....write a novel.
