+fly girls
Im new to this thing and I see lots of people using the 60c. My ? is do I need software with this gps or is it ready to go? I have never used a gps and dont know a thing about them. This seems like the one to get. What is the software for or what does it do. Quote Link to comment
+mlk3454
City Select7 would probably work well for most of your needs. What exactly are you going to use it for? Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
The 60 is ready to go out of the box. However it has the ability to use maps. (at a small addtinional fee ). City Select lets you autoroute. Which is the ability to look up and address or cache location and from there you can have the GPS give you turn by turn directions on how to get there from where you are. This works better with addresses than waypoints but once you understand the limitations it works pretty well with waypoints (one is that it takes you to the closes road to the waypoint which may not be how you get there). Topo shows trails, rivers, landmarks and roads. It's not as current for roads as City Select but it's the only way to have trails and rivers on your GPS. In general I find topo handier for caching because of the trails. Topo does not let you autoroute. Quote Link to comment
+Team Wildebeest
You can use it right out of the box, but like MLK said it depends on what you want to use it for. With city select you can enter an address and get turn by turn directions, or search for things like the nearest gas station or resturant. I have the topo maps loaded on mine right now and it helps to see where the ridges and creeks are in the woods so I can avoid cliffs and things. Quote Link to comment
