Control Yourselves

Recommended Posts

With the site and forums being explicitly drawn to the attention of PMs, there will be an increasing number of opinions on how the WM.com site operates and why it sucks or how it's just a business atlas or the money trail from GC.com and so on. Often these opinions might even overlap something someone already said or be the result of someone who didn't realize locationless caches even existed to have not liked them to begin with before coming here.

Whatever the reason for the person's post, this forum is essentially a mix of the GC "Getting Started" forum and GC "Website Forum" for WM.com. Simply because someone posts something in disagreement with the wonder that you think WM.com is doesn't mean you should act like they sat on your mother.

Let's kill the "cheese" posts and verbal backhands just because someone posts their complaints about Waymarking. If you don't want to address their points (as crooked as you think they are) in a manner that shows them where they went wrong rather than by trying to shut them down or smother them in nonsense, then don't address their comments at all, please.

Yes, but those are the ones that you simply don't address at all. The topic will just drop off the bottom of the page, people will have read the person's opinion, but there's no reason to respond if the only thing you can think of is "you're just an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about".

That's a person who needs to be better informed or even with better information will not act reasonably and therefore doesn't need comment.

They call it a flame war for a reason. It's the human condition to react to those kinds of posts. I would, however, expect that the more veteran posters (of whom you are probably addressing) should just lay off anyway. I can defend the project just fine though thank you for your enthusiasm.
