+Gener_Lee Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Folks, I am sure there is a web site or program to do this, But I am lost finding it. I am trying to take two coods and come up with the Degrees and distance between them. Cachemate has a function to Project Waypoints that takes a starting point, Bearing (Degrees from North) and a distance; Then returns another Waypoint, what I want is the reverse. Can anyone point me to a website or a tool (one that runs on the Palm would be perfect) that can do this Thanks in advance Quote
stevesisti Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/bickel/distance.html Try it Quote
+Sputnik 57 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Cacher Fizzymajic also offers GeoCalc. It is a PC based app. I don't know of a palm app that does this. Quote
+EScout Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 (edited) This can be done easily in your GPSr. Enter both waypoints. Go to your Route Creation Screen. Enter both waypoints. When you highlight the second one, it will give the distance/range and bearing/direction from the first to the second. This can be done quickly with any number of waypoints. Most GPSrs give you the great-circle calculation. Be sure you set your North reference to degrees true (or magnetic) and what distance measure you want. For Palm OS, the program you want is "Navigate." This is a very good program for projections, or entering 2 waypoints to calculate range and bearing. Edited September 7, 2005 by EScout Quote
+blindleader Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 GeoCalc has never worked on my Win2K machine. but that's O.K. I've always used this online calculator as a first choice. If you want to do all kinds of fancy intersections and such with a very clunky user interface, download COMPSYS21. Quote
+EScout Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 In the field, use the route function of your GPSr for this type of calculation. Handy to have on your Palm OS PDA is Navigate especially if your GPSr does not do waypoint projections. Quote
+Gener_Lee Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 (edited) Thanks for all the help. I knew someone had the answer Got and Tried Navigate, and it does exactly what I need and Blindleader's online Calculator is a great online solution Edited September 8, 2005 by Gener_Lee Quote
+The Jester Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I'll add my vote for Navigate. There are lots of neat things this little program can do. Quote
