Jeremy
Geocaching.com is now officially 5 years old today if you want to count the day that it was announced by Mike Teague in the GPSStash Yahoo Mailing list. At that time there were 75 caches in the world. The earliest wayback machine link from November 9, 2000 gives you an idea of the number of caches available at that time (and for some, what the site used to look like). Use a dropdown of the state and country list to see what was available then. Not many! Anyway, Happy Bday web site entity! Quote Link to comment
+Stunod
Woo hoo! Blow out the birthday candles and make a wish!' (Did your wish come true?) Quote Link to comment
+cache_test_dummies
Happy Birthday, Geocaching.com! And congratulations. Shoot, I didn't get you a present. I'll have to stop at the store on the way home. Quote Link to comment
ju66l3r
What did the frog do to the top of that muffin!!??!! Oops, I mean, Woohoo! Geocaching! Yay! What are the kindergartens in that area of Seattle like? Is there a little league in the area? These are questions every good parent of a 5-year-old should be asking itself. +sept1c_tank
Did you cop that chocolate cupcake from Hydee; does she know there's a frog standing in her icing? ¡Feliz cumpleaños! Quote Link to comment
+Raine
Would it be considered animal cruelty to spank Signal? Quote Link to comment
+TresOkies
I could give you my wife's anniversary card and present, but she might be, umm, not happy with me and, umm, withhold certain, umm, charms and stuff. So, instead I'll just say thanks for the years of fun. I hope you actually get to go caching more in the next 5 years instead of playing nursemaid and kindergarten cop. Quote Link to comment

+garri
Happy birthday for whole Groundspeak team. It makes me laugh when I read the "Caches placed in the last 7 days" section from the GC.com cover of November, 2000. How big would be that list today? Quote Link to comment

+The Leprechauns
Happy birthday! And thanks for the peek into the Wayback Machine. I don't think it's coincidental that the site really gathered momentum after that, once hamstercaching was introduced. Quote Link to comment

+Anonymous'
Aw, I remember looking at the old website when it wasn't so old 5 years ago. The old geocaching.com wasn't as glamorous as it is now. Thanks for the memories and happy birthday GC! Edited September 2, 2005 by Anonymous' Quote Link to comment

+tabulator32
Just out of curiousity: Are there still any of those 75 or so caches from that time still in existence? If someone were in the area, it might be neat to log for the occasion. Quote Link to comment

+El Diablo
Happy B-day to Geocaching.com. This site has given us many opportunities to meet new people that we wouldn’t otherwise meet, and to do something good for our communities through CITO. It has also brought families together and has gotten people off the couch and into the outdoors. Thank you!! El Diablo Quote Link to comment

+The Leprechauns
Well except for that one unfortunate cold weather spell its been uphill ever since. Happy Birthday Geocaching.com and Long live the hamsters!!! Shhhhh.... that unfortunate episode, and the related feature request for a "Should be Thawed" log type, are not the sort of things we should be mentioning on the site's birthday. It was *beta* testing. Quote Link to comment
