The PHP and ASPX scripting languages which are used on websites aren't 100% secure, so it is likely Groundspeak have some security functions running which detect when someone is trying to hack or exploit the site.

Alas, these security functions sometime have a hiccup and ban an innocent user - it happens now and then on my PHP based website.

Its not only a hacking issue, there have been cases of people writing web-scrappers that hit the site so hard they bring the servers down. IIRC The software blocks you if you make an unnatural (automated) number of requests in a short period of time.

There are no published guidelines for bannable offences. Either on the player side, or the reviewer mod side. It’s a valid topic but a difficult one to discuss without a lot of people getting defensive, or taking it personally.

I take that back. The forum guidelines so lay down how you are supposed to act for players in the forums.

Players have been banned for stealing caches, and other things that are not so cut and dry.
