+t.a.folk
A very recent thread mentions a member being banned . How and why does this happen ? Quote Link to comment
+Mad H@ter
I recently got banned, but unfortunately I have no idea why. I posted this on the "Geocaching.com Web Site" forum which got it fixed pretty quickly by TPTB, but no explanation or apology (assuming one was due!). Quote Link to comment

+Jaz666
The PHP and ASPX scripting languages which are used on websites aren't 100% secure, so it is likely Groundspeak have some security functions running which detect when someone is trying to hack or exploit the site. Alas, these security functions sometime have a hiccup and ban an innocent user - it happens now and then on my PHP based website. Quote Link to comment

Its not only a hacking issue, there have been cases of people writing web-scrappers that hit the site so hard they bring the servers down. +Renegade Knight
There are no published guidelines for bannable offences. Either on the player side, or the reviewer mod side. It’s a valid topic but a difficult one to discuss without a lot of people getting defensive, or taking it personally. I take that back. The forum guidelines so lay down how you are supposed to act for players in the forums. Players have been banned for stealing caches, and other things that are not so cut and dry. +The Cache Hoppers
The Phillimore Clan banned! I don't believe it They are far too nice to do anything to warrant being banned - shocked, totally shocked Quote Link to comment
+wigglesworth
I know someone who got banned for leaving (what was considered by the powers that be) material which was commercial / advertising items. These were freebie computer CDs. Peter Quote Link to comment
