How Many Before A Ftf

Just got our first FTF on Worthy Consallation and it set us wondering how many caches people have done before they managed to bag their FTF. This was our 371 st cache, so can anyone beat this?

Our first FTF was our 105th. It would have been on our first ever cache but instead of trying to find a new one first we decided to find one that others had already found. By the time we got to the new cache we were second, and well and truly hooked

I am afraid my record is the opposite extreme - my first cache find was a FTF as well.

But there were only 36 other caches in the country at the time and presumably very few cachers too. And it was in an area which I should not have been in because of foot and mouth restrictions - I was innocent as I had entered by a legal route, well that is my story but when I realized that I had left my signature in a log on the wrong side of a notice threatening a £2000 fine . . . !

My FTF was my 21st find (GCPZBJ) a month ago which looking at the caches log I'm still the only one to have logged a find for this cache.

Can remember the finding but had to look on our stats to see how many we had found before it .

My first FTF was my third cache find, at Cherhill White Horse (Wilts) by The Wombles. I didn't have a gps then, and that one proved a bit of a struggle with only a map and the hint, but I found it in the end.

We don't do FTF's as a rule, we just liked the challenge laid down to us by Phoenix, as he'd got FTF on our new cache the same day!!

Mine was my 6th Tinkerwells Grotto It has just been reactivated with the same name and in the same place but with new owners.

 

Just beat Seasider to it.

....And we just got our FTF last week. It was the Severnsiders Border Town Walk GCQ4VQ, which was a most enjoyable sunny stroll around Chepstow and it was our 65th cache find.

Mine was my 39th find, at Earlswood Retreat on a bitterly cold and snowy January afternoon.

 

Somehow, and I don't quite know how, I beat Snerdbe to it by almost 4 months!

Our first cache was a FTF, purely accidentally as it happened to be the closest cache at the time, the second cache we went for has been my bogey cache, with 8 DNF's to date

Yes, I've got one like that. My fifth attempted cache was the one, and I still haven't found it nearly three years later. Other logs say things like "our four year old found it easily"...

 

It's my only not found that I haven't posted a DNF on. At the time I didn't have a gps, so I wasn't really surprised not to find one, and didn't feel a DNF would be meaningful. Now, it's just embarrassing!

It was my 24th for me - I just looked it up. So long ago! A bit of a fluke really as I'd not taken the start co-ords with me. Read about it here. Happy days!

It was our 2nd cache and our 2nd FTF was our 4th. That was over three years ago. Since then I dont think we have had a FTF.

It was our 25th cache, Mother Dunch's Buttocks by The Phillimore Clan. We saw the cache published on a Sunday morning in January and decided to go for our first FTF despite appalling weather. We got soaked and covered in mud, the hillside was extremely slippery and we all ended up on our backsides at some point. Great fun!

Mine was my 120th, the Chiseldon Camp Cache, although I was narrowly beaten on Fosse Bridge One and Two a month or so previously!

 

I have since had a second. Although I don't actively look for them I must admit to a feeling of satisfaction when you arrive knowing that no-one , other than the owner, has been there before.

 

I am on the lookout for a FTF puzzle cache - 'first to solve' almost as good as first to find

my FTF was a miracle FTF as StevieP was about 100 yrds away disguised as a bush- and we just pipped him, but managed not to cross paths.

My wife wondered why would someone walk in our direction and then disappear, a bit like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben but in reverse

finally found our FTF on our 80th here it just happened to pop up while I was looking for some to visit with the kids during the school holidays - not a pretty place, but we combined it with a nice cache in a park afterwards to celebrate.

My first cache was actually a FTF

 

It was Nobby's Dilapidated Des Res (Beds)
