+pieces_of_8
Slightly off topic i know BUT the is a partial Solar Eclipes occurring in the UK on the 3rd of October starting at 07:48, at its max at 09:00, and ending at 10:17 (Times for Bedfordshire) the further you are NORTH the better it gets (N 17 58' E 24 47' being the BEST place to see it...that is quite away NORTH!!!...times slightly different here) Mart Quote Link to comment
+walkergeoff and wife
Now, would that qualify as an Earthcache, or a Suncache? Or an Event cache, maybe? Quote Link to comment
+jochta
For southern England this is a 0.67 magnitude eclipse (67% of the diameter of the Sun eclipsed) and will look like (you won't see the black moon, this is just to illustrate the relative diameters and eclipse depth)... The Sun will be quite low at maximum eclipse at around 21º above the horizon Remember NEVER look at the Sun with the naked eye, use projection method with a telescope or binoculars, eclipse specs or a properly filtered telescope to view the eclipse. +stu_and_sarah
N 17 58' E 24 47' being the BEST place to see it...that is quite away NORTH!!! Did I miss something? N17 58' E24 47' is close to the Sudan/Chad border, south of Libya and has never in my experience been described as 'quite away north'. Did I accidentally click on the South Africa forum?
