Category Proposal: Wigwam Burners

Wigwam burners were used in early sawmills to burn waste wood. By the late 1960s several factors led to their demise. First of all the air pollution concerns and secondly the price of fiber made it economically feasable to use the scraps that were formerly incinerated. The wigman burner is a relic of a past age and they are dissappearing rapidly. There are still many of these rusting hulks all over the Pacific Nothwest and many other areas of the country. You can see a good picture of a burner at http://www.ancilnance.com/html/262.htm

This would nicely complement my existing Iron Furnaces waymark category, listed under "Ruins" in the directory and already getting good reviews and waymark writeups. I vote yes. I'd love the company on the "Ruins" page! I enjoy going out into the middle of nowhere and finding things like this.
