+OldTimeRadioAddict
I know this is already posted in the Canadian forums under a sticky thread, but I thought this may warrant international exposure in the main geocaching forum. Could this be a prelude to other countries, including the U.S.? Let's hope not. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...ache050814.html OTRA Link to comment
magellan315
National Park Serivce already has banned it. Read the article carefully, the Canadian ban appears to be temporary until they create a policy. Link to comment
+Team Wildebeest
I'm pretty close to Canada (Buffalo), but I don't get there as much as I'd like to. Just looking over the story and reading the posts in the Canada forum, it seems to be a very similar ruling to the US parks. No caching in national parks, heritage (historical) sites, etc. Link to comment
+OldTimeRadioAddict
Hmmm, I guess the real question lies in figuring out if Canada's Park System blankets all their parks. While caching is banned in the US National Parks, it is allowed (with permission) in state and county parks here. They are sperate entities. Is Canada's parks set up the same way, or do they all fall under this ruling? I'll have to dig deeper. OTRA Link to comment
+Crazy Aaron
Caching is allowed in US National Parks WITH PERMISSION. Call your local park director and speak with them about geocaching. There is no blanket ban from Washington. Some rangers aren't interested, others are more open to geocaching on the land under their supervision. Link to comment
+mtn-man
Thanks, but we don't need to split the discussion of the issue. There has been a topic about this since April in the Canadian Forums area (as the OP noted). http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=96209 Feel free to discuss there, but the effort to work on this is well underway. I am sure if someone wants to volunteer to help the folks working on this would appreciate it. I am closing this duplicate topic. Link to comment
