Archiving An Event Cache

:)

Had a couple of notes posted for an event cache which I helped host a couple of weeks ago. Some cachers are trying to 'find' the cache... but the event is over! I'd like to archive the cache page to eliminate the n00b confusion, but don't know what will happen to the active travel bugs which people traded at the event but haven't grabbed from the 'cache' yet.

If I archive the event cache, will the travel bugs still be available for grabbing, when the cachers that took them realize they need to do so?

Thanks!

yes.

they'd also be available to grab if you used the event listing account to 'mark them missing' which will move them to location unknown.

Eitherway it doesn't really matter, whenever someone finds them again they'll be able to grab and log them normally.

You can move the travel bugs to an "unknown location" by going to the travelbug page and selecting "mark bug missing" from the dropdown menu on the right side.

Just curious, does moving a TB to an "unknown location" change its mileage?

No. The mileage is not affected. For this reason, many geocachers like this site feature better than the "Travel Bug Graveyards" which were the original informal solution for this issue.
