+2202 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I have just been given a wrong answer to my UC10 (GCJ1C7) virtual by the boys who tried to beat the 24 hour record. What do I do? Knock them back one? I have been given their answer before on one other occasion (72 visits) . Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 You ask them to change their find to a note until they give you the right answer. Odds are they will. If they don't, it's time to set them back one. Most likely they will scramble and come up with the right answer. Quote
Nediam Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I did that cache a little while ago. On aproaching the area there was a VERY prominent feature which the GPS was pointing to. As I got closer, the arrow swung round and directed me to the actual virtual cache. I'm guessing that if they were in a rush, they perhaps thought they'd found it easily and headed off to the next one Pity they didn't get it or see it as it's a great idea for a virtual Quote
+*bingoboy* Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 i'd email them and ask then to change the log cause the answer is not right Quote
+jochta Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Ooer, strictly speaking they have also given the wrong answer for my virtual in Oxford, Swing Low. The cache asks for the names of the partners involved but they have given just the number of partners. But since it is clear from the answers given that they have visited the right place I think I can be lenient Quote
+*bingoboy* Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 (edited) posting from my mb while in the pub is not easy sorry for two posts - if we got it wrong we got it wrong no big deal - i'd email......<snip> Edited August 12, 2005 by *bingoboy* Quote
nobby.nobbs Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 well how generous are you feeling? i mean they've definately been there yes? so it's just they had a no brainer moment not that they haven't been there at all. your cache, your questions. ultimately your call. Quote
+Birders Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Get it right, or it doesn't count. End of story. Otherwise, what's the point in this whole game? Quote
+Chris n Maria Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Otherwise, what's the point in this whole game? To get out in the countryside? have an enjoyable day out? Discover places you would never have senn otherwise? Solve puzzles? ..... Quote
+Haggis Hunter Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 I have been given their answer before on one other occasion (72 visits) . I would say that you would have to take a look yourself to see how easy it is to actually give this wrong answer. Because it has been given before, albeit only once, this may be a small error on your part rather than theirs. You may have to change your description to fit in with this wrong answer. So what I would do is take a look, easy to make a mistake, possibly my fault? let them have the find. Not so easy to make a mistake & your description already makes it clear, then it is changed to a note. Ultimately though is that it is your cache and your decision? Quote
+Birders Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Chris n Maria... We agree, but wasn't this all about a record attempt? Quote
+third-degree-witch Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Im with birders..Surely any record would be tainted,After all the answers were incorrect. Quote
+Chris n Maria Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Chris n Maria... We agree, but wasn't this all about a record attempt? Oh yes I agree, for the record attempt - but you did say "this whole game", which I took to be the whole game of geocaching I just think generally people tend to get hung up on numbers and finds and forget that they really aint that important. +2202 Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 (edited) You will be glad to know that the boys came up with the correct answer (just ) Then only next day I am faced with exactly the same dilema on a Wombles virtual. I have emailed them in advance before logging but they appear to have gone on holiday down to Cornwall so will have to wait a week or so for the answer. Edited August 13, 2005 by 2202 Quote
