+GrnXnham
I should clarify, my nickels are numbered just for personal use only, they are not trackable like a geocoin in any sense of the term and you will not be able to log the number or anything. Just thought that needed cleared up some. Well that just blows it for me! Can I get my nickels back? Quote Link to comment
+Sparticus06
Ok I know I asked once before and did get one answer. Where all can I get wooden nickels made? There was one site in particular, and I did email them with what I wanted and did get an email back. But I never had the chance to reply again and now have since lost that email. If you prefer to PM me, please feel free to do so. Thanks. I do remember there being quite a few pics of what they had to offer. The offered multi colors. I really wish I could remember that site. If I find it this time, I am book marking it. Edited July 18, 2008 by Sparticus06 Quote Link to comment
+GrnXnham
This was the only place that I found that would do multicolor nickels directly on the wood. Some places only do single color nickels and others put the multicolors on a sticker that then goes on the nickel. I didn't want a sticker. Caches get wet. Stickers are not very water-proof. My nickels are water-proof. They've gone through the wash and still look great. http://www.wooden-nickel.com/ BTW, I'M SPARTICUS! Edited July 18, 2008 by GrnXnham Quote Link to comment
+Boots...
Got a pair of nickels from Princess Tiki a couple days ago. I am, as usual, running behind, but I did drop a pair in the mail for you, in return, PT. For some reason, I forgot we had made a trade, and when yours arrived in the mail, it reminded me. I apologize for the delay. Quote Link to comment

+ChayBeeTee
I'm a newbie and found a wooden nickel today in my third of four NYC (and only) cache finds to date. I've searched the forums as best I can and haven't found any reference to a "Team Ecnarf" wooden nickel of this description. I don't know that I'm interested in trading--I think I'd rather put this one back in the geo-stream. It was such fun to find that I'd like others to have the same little thrill. So, at the risk of displaying gross ignorance, why are they collected, rather than just moved from cache-to-cache? More specifically, why are they put into the geo-stream in the first place if they will be quickly removed and kept for trade, rather than circulated? Sorry if this should be obvious to me, but it's not! Also, I know there is a forum addressed to posting trackables, but I don't know if this even qualifies as a "trackable." Can someone help me out here? Quote Link to comment

I keep the wooden nickels I find in caches and leave one of mine in its place. I only trade my personalized wooden nickels. Quote Link to comment

The only new geocoins I see right now are my monthly club shipments. Wooden nickel trading has been a little slow, so I bring it back to page one when I can. Always trying to get new people interested. If you've read some of my previous posts, I will send one of my wooden nickels to anybody that's intetested in them but don't know where to start making their own. The offer still stands. +Boots...
I finally bought myself some coin collector pages, and put all of my signature wooden nickels into sleeves for display. Only problem is, I used to think I had a lot of nickles, but having them in display pages (with 20 nickles to a page), means all of my nickles only fill up 3 pages. The collection looks a little slim, and I need YOUR help!! Only YOU can prevent sad, undernourished wooden nickle collections. Call (or email) today to do your part! Contact me directly to make a donation (trade) to the wooden nickle collection! Thanks! Boots... PS... I have just finished a new batch of nickles with a brand new design on the back. Bagged up and ready to trade/leave in caches! Quote Link to comment

+slowdownracer
Well just take your time then! What's for dinner? Well, dinner last night was burgers and fries - homemade, not from any fast food place. Tonight, I'm not sure yet. Anyway, here's my tally. I only counted individual, unique nickels and chips with a distinct geocacher's name on it. 137 wooden nickels of various sizes 31 poker chips, all standard size My son Justion's collection has all the duplicates I've ever received, and he has probably 30 to 40 nickels and chips. I started trading in the spring of 2006, and 2006 and 2007 were very busy, usually 3 or 4 trades a week. 2008 has been kind of slow, but things pick-up once and a while. Many thanks to all I've traded with so far. Furthermore, I'm ready to trade any time, just e-mail me thru my profile. Quote Link to comment

I really like the individual artistry that goes into some of these nickles though. its a great expression of self. I think that the nickels are quite common but few people are interested in trading them by mail. Most people just have them made in order to place them in caches. It seems like every time we travel to a new area in the country, we pick up 2 or 3 new ones in caches placed there by the locals. I don't think we've even scratched the surface when it comes to finding/collecting all the personalized geocachers' nickels out there. Quote Link to comment
+GATOULIS
you are lucky my friend! Here in Rhodes, I haven't seen a wooden nickel or a pathtag in a cache!!!! Well...who knows, when the winter comes, I will go again for geocaching, at the same caches! I found them all excet one, here in Rhodes, so.... If I get lucky, I may find one! I do not know if other greek geocachers are familiar to them! I haven't ask, but if you imagine that I am the only pathtager in Greece..... .....do you know any other greek geocacher (we are not many! we are about 30 - 35 in Greece!!!), who is actually interested in wooden nickels?? BTW, can I ask something? a wooden nickel is only the one that the wood is round like a coin, or the wood is bought ready from shops? I mean if I cut round pieces of wood and put my signature, my code name, a design, is that a wooden nickel? If a signature item is made of wood, but is big, in shape, and iti s not round but has a shape of a paw (like Lorca's signature item), is this a wooden nickel? what are the things that makes something a wooden nickel?? I'm not sure there is a clear-cut definition of a "wooden nickel" but if the thing is huge and not round I would probably call it a "token" but NOT a wooden nickel. Then again, look at the odd-ball shapes and sizes that geocoins have become but they are still called "coins." But really who cares if it is actually a wooden nickel or not? If it looks cool, people will still want to collect it and trade for it! Quote Link to comment
