+B.J.S.
I'm just starting to collect nickels, and have been working on the design for only a couple days. Probably will be awhile before I get them ordered. Just hoping you all have some left to trade when I get them. Can someone tell me ho to get pics in my posts? Thanks. Quote Link to comment

+AtlantaGal
Extras for Trade: bluegillfisherman 2 Jaybee Litlens pghlooking Snowmann TreePlanter Robert Lacy 2004 GBOTS Eagle (Mini) GBOTS Eagle LINK TO MY COLLECTION Still willing to trade any of these extras for printed or hand painted nickles I don't have. I also made about 40 various hand-painted nickles of my own that I've been tossing into caches. I'll trade these too. I have about 25 or so left. All the backs are hand-sign like the pic shows and each is consecutively numbered. The nickles have all been painted with a clear gloss sealent. Ferreter5
I have completed making the first ever Ferreter5 poker chips. Details of the chip: Casino weight poker chip (11 to 12 grams). They cannot be tracked on the geocaching.com site. This is the only one I'll make in 2006. Limited quantity of 40 produced. They are individually numbered. The ferret line art was drawn by hand and is the same as the way I sign log books. These were made by me, by hand. The artwork was printed on circular labels and then afixed to the center of each chip. Since they were made by hand there is some slight variability in the centering of the artwork on the chips. I tested various clear finishes and decided that they look and feel best without a finish, however if you want to trade for one and would like a clear finish applied I can do that before shipping it out. The slogan "A Cache-Only Business" comes from: (1) "Cache" since this is about geocaching; (2) A "Business" is what a group of ferrets is called; (3) well, you get the overall saying, I'm sure. I have 20 chips available for trading. Please e-mail me if you'd like to trade for one. I'd love to hear from you and trade chips/nickels/tokens. Quote Link to comment
+SirGerald
This thread needed another bump to the top... While I'm at it, I'm planning on getting some more wooden nickels made for caches and trading. It might be a week or two before I receive them, though. And I still have some of my poker chips available for trading. If you already have mine, perhaps we could trade for some of the other extras I have available. My trading list can be seen at: http://www.utahgeocachers.com/GeoCoin/GeoC...play&OwnerID=85 Anyone interested? Quote Link to comment

+SirGerald
FYI: I've now got a new batch of wooden nickels. These have the same front design as my first ones but the back is slightly different. It's dated 2006 and I've added "TerraCaching" to the top text ring. Oh, and they are sequentially numbered. If anyone would like to trade, just send me an email. Quote Link to comment

+cachefamily
I just wanted to share the way that I've been shipping out my wooden nickel trades. I bought small ziploc style bags at Wal*Mart, they are 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and you can get a hundred or so for a couple bucks in the craft dept. I put the nickels in those then tape the 2 nickels side by side to an index card, place another index card over that and slide the whole thing into a standard small envelope. Postage: whether I've sent 2, 3 or 4 nickels they all meet the weight for standard 37 cent postage. BUT...since they can't be run thru the machine at the post office, you need to add 12 cents worth of stamps to each envelope for hand sorting. Also, if you go to the post office to drop them off they want the envelopes handed right to a postal worker instead of put in the regualr mail slot. Hope this is helpful to someone How does everyone else mail theirs? Quote Link to comment

The lady behind the counter said I only needed 39 cents postage. I went back later in the day to send some more and the guy behind the counter said they needed 59 cents. So...sorry, but some of you may get a postage due notice. well, *supposedly* in order to send an awkward sized item (nickel/poker chip) in the mail (standard paper envelope or bubble mailer) you need to pay standard 39 cent postage PLUS 13 cents additional postage to cover the hand cancelling since the thicker envelope can't go thru the postal machines. Now I've had the following happen: -Paid extra, had it go thru the machine anyway and break the nickel -Paid extra, had it go thru the machine and get delivered in one piece -Rcvd nickels from cachers that paid extra and had them go thru the machine and get broken (or worse, have the machine push the coin or nickel right outta the envelope) -Rcvd nickels that had no extra postage, gone thru the machine, get broken -Rvcd nickels that had no extra postage, gone thru the machine, came out fine. However, the vast majority of the time, I've paid the extra 13 cents, handed them to the postal worker and had them arrive safely. In this case, I doubt that there'll be postage due tho. Hope everyone receives whole nickels! Quote Link to comment
