mapjunkie
I have noticed in the description of a couple vertical control marks that the disk is set in the"water table" of a building. Now I know where I would expect to find the disk, but I'm curious about the terminology - is this an archaic term or does it describe a particular feature of a construction technique? I've only seen it on marks set on government buildings (so far). (see LF0490 , which I intend to collect this weekend) -Matt Quote Link to comment
Z15
A projecting ledge, molding, or stringcourse along the side of a building, designed to throw off rainwater. See the slanted ledge below the BM in this photo, that a water table. Edited July 29, 2005 by Z15 Quote Link to comment
