KBer Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I was hiking last Friday on the Tongue Mountain Range in the Adirondacks by Lake George, and came across this curled up snake. Can anyone ID the snake type? Thanks for your assistance. Quote
rvdriverbill Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I'm no expert, but my best guess would be an eastern timber rattlesnake. Bill Quote
Evil Chicken Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 (edited) Based on the broad triangular shape of the head and rough scaling, I'd agree that it appears to be a northern timber rattlesnake. (But I aint an expert either!) edit: spelling Edited July 26, 2005 by Evil Chicken Quote
briansnat Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Looks like a rattlesnake to me. Tongue Mtn is known for them. Quote
Sue Gremlin Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I don't know nuthin' bout no snakes either, but this page shows that these good people are correct. What you have there is an Eastern Timber Rattlesnake. I hope you took that with telefoto lens! Quote

KBer Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 My initial guess was a Eastern Timber Rattlesnake also. Please check out my NOTE THAT I POSTED on the NORTHWEST BAY CACHE page. I do not want to panic anyone but I thought a reasonable warning to the cache hiders and other seekers was prudent. Quote
