alohadavid Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) Hi everyone. I'm new to benchmarking, I've been doing it for a couple weeks now. I have seen some marks in my area (Boston) that reference MGS (Mass Geodetic Survey). I did some digging and found this site: MassHighway Geodetic Survey It lists all of the geodetic points used for highway and bridge construction for the state of Mass. You can search for marks throughout the state, and you can sign up for a login and password if you want to do recoveries. There is even a cross reference with the NGS database on some of the marks. I signed up and though the page says a 24 turnaround, it took about 2 weeks to get my account activated. Edited July 25, 2005 by alohadavid Quote
+Zhanna Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Hi! Welcome to benchmark hunting, and thanks for mentioning the link! Just FYI (and for the other newcomers), I have a page on my website where I collect links to state, county and city survey control databases: Local Survey Control Data I don't have anything else for MA at the moment, but there may be others for neighboring states that you would be interested in. I'm always looking for new links, too, so feel free to send me anything you come across. These databases are not always easy to find. ~Zhanna http://surveymarks.planetzhanna.com/ Quote
Cape Cod Cacher Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 alohadave! Cool site, the zoom is a little clunky, but that's what get from an area that produces some great minds but will only pay for community college drop-outs... God save the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! Here is another site you fellow MA people might like, Mass GIS site: http://www.mass.gov/mgis/massgis.htm Not to big on Benchmarks, but a neat waste of time none the less. I've been threatening myself with going to town hall to ask about the town survey marks, perhaps after summer (I said that last year too). Quote
alohadavid Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 Yeah, the interface is klunky, but at least it's online. I saw the Mass GIS site earlier today. It looks like you could waste a lot of time there. Zhanna, thats a nice site you have there. Quote
