+IVxIV
A co-worker bought a used/old panel mounted GPSr for his boat. Surprisingly, he knew very little details about it (his first GPS).. but did mention he was trying to figure out the "Gmaps" thing this unit is supposed to support. He says the unit is a "Garmin 120".. So, what's a Gmap? And, where do you get them?? I believe that GPSr is quite old now. Tkx Quote Link to comment

HugoOne
Looks like it can't do maps, just waypoints and routes. http://www.garmin.com/products/gps120/spec.html If he has a PC cable any GPS software should work with it as it seems to output NMEA (he should be able to upload/download waypoints/routes/tracks and use it as a GPS for PC based mapping software). +IVxIV
Thanks guys I showed that one (Garmin GPS120) to him asking if that is what he had.. he said "no, it's more square than that" (??!??!) He's now going BACK to his boat to see if he didn't remember the brand/model correctly LOL. He sounded pretty sure about the Gmap part though, but I can't find hardly anything about that on Google, Garmin, etc.. will keep you posted once this guy reveals more details lol Quote Link to comment
peter
Is it possible he means the CMap marine charts rather than "GMap"? Quote Link to comment
+IVxIV
The guy comes back and corrects himself., Oops it's not a "Garmin 120" it's a "Garmin 220" Oops, it doesn't use "Gmaps" it uses "G-charts" Kinda a subtle difference eh? Anyway I find out these maps are what he needs, and Garmin doesn't sell them anymore.. I guess scanning Ebay might be a final option. Thanks for your help guys Quote Link to comment
HugoOne
It could be possible to load Bluechart marine maps in it, Garmin will be able to tell you that, they're one of the few companies that do support "old" devices the fact of still having them on-line with the specs and manuals tells a lot.
