+El Diablo Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) Post your best picture taken while caching. The winner will win a free hiking staff created and customized by me. The contest will run for 3 weeks. The winner will be decided by the caching community. The rules are that you must have taken the picture while caching, which means you need to be able to link it to the cache you were hunting at the time. Only one picture per entry, so make it a good one. If you submit more than one you will be disqualified. The rest of the rules I'll make up as we go along. Anyone in the world is eligible. Pictures containing a great scene, wildlife, cute kids, and pretty women will probably be a plus. Good luck!! El Diablo Edited June 19, 2005 by El Diablo Quote
+Miragee Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Oh goodie. I'll have to start sorting through all my many Geocaching pictures to see which one to enter. Before this gets underway, may I also suggest that people resize the pictures before posting them to the thread. My really slow dial-up connection gets completely bogged down when people post large images. TIA. Quote
+El Diablo Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 And what would the staff look like? You've never seen one of my staffs? El Diablo Quote
+El Diablo Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 nope - sorry - nOOb Basically they are crap...but hey it's free! You can look at my work at Hiking staff BTW...I no longer sell them. El Diablo Quote
+Mr Lost Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 This is my old staff, after a lost battle. I was on a geocache, and saw a large branch that had fallen out of a tree, but was still suspended over the hiking trail. I decided to knock it down with my hiking staff in order to prevent any accidents to any other hikers. After the third whack, it did fall, but my staff had split down the middle as well. I would dearly love to replace this staff with one of yours. Quote
+Team Tecmage Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) Pictures containing a great scene, wildlife, cute kids, and pretty women will probably be a plus. Good luck!! El Diablo Pretty woman and cute kid that I get to cache with! Oh, this picture was from May 5, 2004 at Busha's Snot Locker- our first Indiana FTF! Edited June 19, 2005 by Team Tecmage Quote

tossedsalad Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Basically they are crap...but hey it's free! BTW...I no longer sell them. El Diablo lol At least you're humble... I thougth about buying a staff a couple of times. I looked at some bamboo ones that are made from some very hard varieties of bamboo. But so far I just use branches that I find on the trail. I guess taking them with me is not in the spriit of "Leave no Trace". Maybe I should pick a favorite and keep it. Quote
Dr123d Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) Nothing better then kilt caching in a canoe. Even better when you have one of El_D's walking sticks to bring with you. We just got done doing the Colorado Island. Well I have had the honor of logging one of your Sticks and using it for a while caching. I must say if you haven't seen one you are missing out. Edited to add link! Edited June 19, 2005 by Dr123d Quote
+Blind Avocado Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Pretty woman, but not so cute kid. My wife, the Tigger Lady and her son Mike of Mutley Crue on the Pushawalla Power Path. Actually the staff would be for her as her bad knee is getting worse and it is harder for her to do trails like this. Quote
+QDman Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 This was taken in Crest, just East of San Diego, right after my first FTF, Golden Hammer. This was just after the wettest winter in seven years, and I have never seen Crest look like this before. Everyone I show this to asks me if it was taken in Ireland. I usually tell them no. Quote
+WeightMan Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 and the log is here. This was one of the pics taken during my hunt for #600 last week. Quote
+sept1c_tank Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Basically they are crap...but hey it's free! BTW, thanks for the crap you sent me. Actually, it is a beautiful staff with a colorful replica of my avatar! Don't underestimate yourself, Jerry. Quote
+Ladybug Kids Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Here's Mini-I Ladybug of the Ladybug Kids holding Hot Pink Monkey's Fist. Getting to this cache required solving a puzzle, then detouring 80-90 miles roundtrip during a 360 mile drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks to cover the three miles from the Port of Anchorage to the cache, and getting caught in a blizzard while driving through Broad Pass. Any questions as to why this CUTE KID liked the name of the cache and wanted to find it so badly??? Quote
+BAF Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) I took this one last summer on the way to a cache. Edited June 19, 2005 by BAF Quote

+Isonzo Karst Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Hey! Dr 123d, I was about to tell you that those are the UGLIEST women I've ever seen caching - but then I remembered this picture taken at a "ladies night out" event... I could use a staff just to keep themat a safe distance. Quote

+Cow Spots Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 My team name is The Cow Spots --- for various reasons, but one side benefit is that my son (3 years old) loves cows. On the way back from Swamp Land in Arizona (GCEFA6) we passed a huge cattle ranch, where literally thousands of cows were mere feet from the car. I rolled down the window to get a shot of the cows peeking in to see CowSpot Jr. As I noted in my log, my favorite part of this picture is the cow towards the back who looks like he's desperately craning his neck trying to get in the shot. +El Diablo Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 Can the pic be one taken while placing or maintaining an owned cache? Certainly! El Diablo Quote
+Marky Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I don't want to be considered in the running, since I already have a beautiful El Diablo hiking staff, as does Joani. I did want to participate in the fun though! Here is a picture from last month of Mount Shasta: It was taken from the site of this virtual cache along I5, near the border of California and Oregon. Taken with a Rebel XT and a 75mm-300mm zoom lens (at 300mm). I didn't have a tripod with me which is why the picture isn't crystal clear. --Marky Quote

+GRANPA ALEX Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Interesting thing, this . . . one of these grand staffs made an appearance as a "Travel Bug" at the local Burlington NC Cookout & Geo-clinic on the 18th of June (yesterday). It had been signed by WE4NCS and went on it's way. El D does a nice job on these, have seen several (WE4NCS, rldill & others). Worth the effort to get one! Quote

+Spencersb Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 (edited) I don't think it will beat some of these others, but it's the best view I've had within 200 miles of Memphis! Taken near Lil Hawk Crag in North Central Arkansas yesterday. (Yes it was 18 June 2005, the little battery that keeps the date in my camera is dead, and I've been too lazy to replace it! ) Edited June 19, 2005 by Spencersb Quote
Dinoprophet Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Besides posting those pics of my staffs, here's my not-competing-just-sharing favorite shot from my gallery. My dad actually took it; I'm on the dock (with my staff). This is near both Foot travel only and Reid "Read" Lake Cache Quote
+PassingWind Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Gotta love this one!! Geocaching and baseball!! Took this one while grabbing the Let's Go Padres ! cache. Quote

+res2100 Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Son and I after finding the After the Gold Rush cache. We were enjoying the day and area so much that we spent another 45 minutes after finding the cache to make this snow man and dress it up complete with hats, gloves, headlamp, GPS and backpack. Read the Log Entry for more of our adventure. It was a truely awesome caching experience and a great bonding moment for my son and I. Quote
+the hermit crabs Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 This picture was taken to fulfill the logging requirements for Wayland 11.0 - You want me to do WHAT?!?. The requirements change with each find; the one I did had these: "Post a photo of yourself (or as much of your group as you can fit) enjoying a brisk spring day lounging in a kiddie pool, inflatable or hard plastic variety. Yes, the kiddie pool must be full of water. In the photo you'll be holding a makeshift sign reading 'Thanks, Wachusett Wolverines!'" I waited almost a month, hoping someone else would do it, and finally decided to weasel around the rules as much as I could... nothing said that the pool actually had to be outdoors, or that the water in the pool couldn't be inside some nice smaller containers... and here's the corresponding log. uber_bike_geek Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 WH- help me add pictures to my post, please!! I'm not WH, but I can help [img=IMAGE URL GOES HERE] that should do the trick for you Happy caching Jeff Quote

+copper_toad Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I just added my first log photos today. It's modest and not as grand as some, but I like it. I trashed out this "mini forest in a bottle" a week ago from CIL Argyle Cache #2 . I kept it and now have it in a terrarium with my DH's Madagascar hissing roaches. Quote
+peanutbutterbreadandjam Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Cute kids. Hungry cute kids... Well, somebody had to eat it! ju66l3r Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I think this image has made its way onto the forums before, but here it is for an official contest. These are purple lupines in Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, Maine. The photo was taken June 7th, 2003. I took this picture just after getting down Cadillac Mountain where I found this virtual cache at the summit. Quote
