Guest startracker1 Posted May 3, 2001 Posted May 3, 2001 Hi Ya'll. I'm new to all of this GeoCaching and I'm noping to get the yellow Etrex GPS unit. I live in Gander Newfoundland Canada. I'm 16, male. the unit I'm looking to buy has a 500 way point storage and 22 hours battery life. that's all I can rember from the case. it cost's $199.99 and tax (CDN) but because my mom works at the store I get 10% off. so it comes to about $210 . I was also looking at a Magellan 310 for the same price, but it only had 100 way point storage. any advice anyone can give would be helpful. thanks in advance. Trevor Wilson great news! today (friday may 4th) a few minutes ago I got a call from the place (McDonalds) that I had an intervier last Tuesday. I start on Monday, so, with any luck, I'll have my GPS unit in a few weeks. [This message has been edited by startracker1 (edited 04 May 2001).] Quote
Guest oz_digga Posted May 3, 2001 Posted May 3, 2001 I too am new to this, havein gunsuccesfully hunted for two diffrent caches, on two diffrent occasions, using a borrowed GPS. I think owning your own GPS is important, as you become more familiarwith functionality. I have chosen to purchase the Etrex, by Garmin. Based on features for price its a great unit. not too big , and easy to handle. it also seems to be a populer unit with the people on this forum. Just my 2c. worth. oh, and g'day from down-under. OZ. Guest startracker1 Posted May 3, 2001 Posted May 3, 2001 I'm not sure if there are any cache's in this province. I hope there are. but if not then I hope there will be when I get my GPS unit in a few weeks/months (after I wrangel up a job). if there is anyone in Newfoundland using this forum, drop me a lint at star_tracker1@yahoo.com Quote
