+Cache-Hounds Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Please put us on the list for 2 coins if they are still available. Thanks!
+dogbreathcanada Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 The BCGA hard at work on the geocoin That looks about right. Based on the interest, they'll need a lot of ore. Do you happen to know where they'll be doing the smelting?
QuigleyJones Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 wow theres 674-703+ already ordered already without any design yet.
+Shop99er Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Anything like an update, or a clue when these will appear?
+Dagg Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 (edited) Smelting should commence next week Edited October 12, 2005 by Dagg
+Half-Canadian Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 Twenty-six....... Twenty-seven...
BC Tripper Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I'd take 5, and maybe more, but i skimmed over the thread and couldn't see a proposed price. Could someone post, or contact me via GC to let me know? BC Tripper
+Mystery Ink Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Add me to the list, I will take 4 or 5 when ready. I have an extra hammer if yours breaks while stamping them out
QuigleyJones Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Cost would likely be in the same range as other similar coins recently issued -- around $7.00 CDN or $5.00 US plus shipping. The very first post
+Deneye Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 wow theres 674-703+ already ordered already without any design yet. speaking of which... do we have any clue yet as to what it may look like other than hard, round & shiney?
QuigleyJones Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 do we have any clue yet as to what it may look like other than hard, round & shiney? There was some pics in the former bcga forum, but they were just ideas. ideas: bc coat of arms - bc with maker (like can coin) - totems - mountains - orcas - native art
+RustyBeerCan Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I got a die grinder if you wanna borrow it. 2 Please
+Jan and the Percey Boys Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 We will go for 2 here in the uk Bob (as long as we dont need to pay the ridiculous mail costs of the calgary and canada coins and if we can pay by paypal)
+Dagg Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 This is bordering on absurd. 3-4 days on design, send it out for a few quotes, coins in hand 3-6 weeks. What seems to be the problem here? Do it soon, or someone else will.
+ZoomZoom Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Is this a scam??? Why is it taking forever???
+Half-Canadian Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 As the OP of this thread, I will respond -- I was asked, as a member of the BCGA executive, to post this topic as a way to gauge interest in minting of a BC geocoin. I did not volunteer to oversee the development and production of these coins, nor do I have any interest in doing so. Obviously, there is a lot of interest in this coin, and several months have gone by since my original post. Perhaps the BCGA president would like to post a note here to fill us all in on the current status of the coin so I can either lock the thread or leave it open. Please do not send me any more emails directly inquiring about the coin -- I don't know any more than you do. H-C
+BC Geocaching Association Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Perhaps the BCGA president would like to post a note here to fill us all in on the current status of the coin so I can either lock the thread or leave it open. The BCGA has neither the resources nor interest in continuing to pursue a BC geocoin at this time, despite overwhelming feedback that there is a demand for it. We encourage other BC geocachers to organize creating a coin and wish them success with the endeavour. Please feel free to lock this thread at your earliest convenience.
+Nurse Dave Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Jeesh if I had no ethics, I'd slap something together and have something for y'all in a few weeks.
+Dagg Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Jeesh if I had no ethics, I'd slap something together and have something for y'all in a few weeks. Im on it.
+Dagg Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I will have art up for opinions in the next few days.
+AV Dezign Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 The BCGA has neither the resources nor interest in continuing to pursue a BC geocoin... well, this was a waste of my time, I kept watching this space for new of the release, and they never intented to do anything about it. Sheesh!

You could have relayed that information a lot earlier, could you have not? And maybe locked the thread? And when you say the "BCGA has no interest", do you mean the BCGA executive? Or was the membership (such that it is) polled on the question? Edited October 23, 2005 by dogbreathcanada

Sheesh! Don't worry. If you lived here, you'd have known that the BCGA is a waste of time.
+dogbreathcanada Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I will have art up for opinions in the next few days. Are you doing a BC geocoin too ... or will this be The Sandbox geocoin? I'd like to see how the artwork on the Sandbox coin goes over in these here parts.
