+2202 Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 If a cache desciption says:- The moor now still entertains the shooting habits of the TAVR (Eastern Wessex) but these are now more restricted to the bunkered shooting ranges south of the cache location. However the area is still under their jurisdiction and compliance with the various notices posted on the bridleways that cross the moor must be implicitly obeyed. What would you do if the Red flags are flying? I ask because I have just had a newbie ignore the red flags and walk into the Danger Area even though they could hear the sound of gunfire in the distance! Quote
Browser Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I think Mr Darwin summed it up quite well..... The clever ones survive and the not so clever ones .... don't. (I'm paraphrasing here) Quote

I'd prefer to see it in plain English. "If the RED flags are flying, come back another day!" is far easier to understand. Quote
nobby.nobbs Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 add additional note to point out the dangers then if they still go in with the red flags flying then as has been said darwin summed it up..... Quote
+Kitty Hawk Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 It must be OK, there's a cache there. - I'm with Stuey. Real plain English. Apart from us normal people, there are also some more geeky people who are interested in the game, and sometimes geeks can be experts in their own fields, but not neccessarily experts in real life. +Brenin Tegeingl Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Having actualy been at Altcar Ranges when the Range Guard (not the one which over looks a cache) fell asleep resulting in a couple of bikers riding up and down in the overshoot area, personally if I saw the flags I'd head the opposite way as quick as possible. This problem is not exclusive to just cachers, it happens a lot with Walkers as well, Hollcombe Moor Training area (where the Krypton Factor Assault course is) has a major problem with people ignoring the flags. I'd suggest putting in extremly big red leters at the top of the cache page When Red Flags are Flying do Not Enter the area! Dave Quote

The flags were flying and we could watch helicopters fly past in the valley below us. Great stuff! There is NO WAY, even if we hadn't read about the flags that we'd go into an area which so obviously has DANGER written all over it! But then again, we have common sense which so many people seem to lack. Stu Edited June 6, 2005 by stu_and_sarah Quote

Touché In my defence, what I failed to mention is that in certain circumstances, I also lack common sense that others have! Stu -- I have never unicycled past a firing-range warning flag. Quote
