It looks like this is also putting people onto the 'new' map page which requires a webgl-capable browser (where webgl hasn't been disabled), and a computer with a compatible graphics card. If you remove the "/play" from the URL then you can still see the cache on the original 'browse' map. There is the added bonus of more layers than the three on the new map.

Maps won't display with Internet Explorer 11.

Has anybody seen a System Requirements page for the new map ("search map")? It's been a D5 puzzle... I know it needs WebGL (what's that?), and a modern browser (defined?)... -
Browser here is Firefox 71.0, Ubuntu Linux build, with the Ublock Origin and Decentreyes addons. WebGL is disabled and it is set to delete cookies on exit. I had no problem with the privacy prompt and it has not reappeared. After accepting the prompt, I have used the latest version of Waterfox on Windows 7 and managed to view and submit logs. I suspect any problems with the privacy panel are due to the non-availability, or incorrect performance, of a javascript function which is meant to intercept clicks on the accept button. If that is happening on a "vanilla" instance of a currently supported browser (installed "out of the box" with no subsequent configuration) then I venture to suggest that that is a problem GS needs to address with some despatch. If people with addons are noticing it I would suggest trying the browser with addons disabled.

I didn't mean, try going to those sites. I meant, if those sites are blocked by a script blocker, allow them. But that's not the issue for you, it seems. Check your browser settings, and make sure WebGl is enabled. What's your browser and version number?

Are you able to see a spinning cube at https://get.webgl.org/ ? Groundspeak tried something bleeding edge, and the release notes thread is full of calamity. More info there. Even people who do see something on the screen don't seem happy about it. Psst, for better technical support in general, more info is needed. System specs in particular...

Hi everyone, Thanks for sharing all your feedback on the new map, it is much appreciated. Once again, I should note that all of the feedback is read, considered, and serves as a valuable input when we decide what to work on next. Today’s deployment consists of the following: We have a fix for users that are running browsers that do not support WebGL. For those that are affected by this issue, they’ll now get a modal window with a link to access the older Browse map. As a reminder here’s the URL to the older Browse map https://www.geocaching.com/map/ The map will now only use the corrected coordinates to plot cache markers if the user has not found the cache. Fixed some placed-date issues with caches on the Search map. Please stay tuned to this forum thread for further updates. Best, Brendan

I can't get WebGL running on my computer. Is there any other way to get Geocaching Maps running or to get back the old map? Thank you in advance!

To all those having blank-screen problems with the new map... If your browser fails this test: https://get.webgl.org/ ... it's your fault.

But has Groundspeak published any system requirements for the latest map? I'm still getting this, as reported earlier: It flashes and flickers. Yesterday I saw upside-down text among the snow. Must be what random memory inside a video card looks like. Firefox Quantum 66.0.2 (64-bit), Linux Mint 19 with NoScript and Privacy Badger disabled for this test, everything webgl* at defaults in about:config. I'm such an optimist. I keep reporting these things.

As I observed in the pre-release thread, if someone has disabled webgl for security reasons, they get a blank page for the search map, and when that happens the toggle to switch to the browse map is unavailable. I only use the browse map so am not going to re-enable a little-known feature of Firefox with questionable security, for one page that I won't be using anyway. Fortunately I made a bookmark of the browse map the other day. It is not acceptable that I should have to rely on a bookmark for that, when displaying caches on a map is one of the core functions of the website. Please could the Play drop-down menu have two map options, one for the search map, and one for the browse map.

I have gone to the webgl link shown. My PC shows the rotating box. My PC is an HP ZBook 15 with NVidia Quadro M1000M graphics card. Hardware should not be an issue. I have since tested the maps on 4 different PCs (Win 7 & 10, old & new) using IE11. I have not been able to get the geocaching map to show on any of them. It wouldn't be so bad if it would remember my selection of Google maps. The geocaching map works for Edge, Chrome and Firefox, just not IE11. Has anyone been able to get the geocaching map worm in IE?

On my PC* (Linux Mint 19, kernel 4.15.0-42, Firefox Quantum 64.0 64-bit, with NoScript and Privacy Badger disabled for this test, everything webgl* at defaults in about:config), video basically freaks out. Flickers for a while, then settles down but still doesn't show anything resembling a map. Must be related to the vector tiles... The traditional map at https://coord.info/map works fine as usual. Whew. * My PC hardware is over 10 years old. Is there a hardware-requirements spec somewhere? I thought we abstracted hardware away these days...

I got the option to try the new map this morning. I was very excited, however I've got a problem - the map does not appear. Instead I get a blank white screen. No error messages, no text. Just blank. I'm using Chrome Version 70.0.3538.77 (Official Build) (64-bit) on a very old macbook pro, so please tell me that the new map experience does not require the ability to run WebGL. Edit: It seems to be working fine with Firefox, so it must be a browser setting issue with my Chrome.

Hi all, I am unable to drag the map with left-click + mouse move, neither in Firefox (nor Chrome but this works fine in IE. Have tried to ctrl-f5 reload the js code to no avail. Please consider looking into http://www.chromeexperiments.com/globe I would like to see a global distribution of caches around the world and this WebGL app looks perfect. A city by city graph of total active caches would be outstanding. If you also have population density demographics, you could do caches per capita. I would consider doing this myself, except I do not have access to the entire database of active caches. Thanks a bunch, -Doug
