Just wondering which data fields everyone is using in their Garmins to hunt down geocaches? Currently using a Gramin 67 and I have GPS Accuracy, Distance to Destination, Bearing, and Heading. Do you use Map or Compass in the main window? How do you have your GPS setup? Just looking for a possible better way than what I am currently using.

Hello, does anyone here use a Garmin Zumo XT on their motorcycle and can tell me if I can transfer and display gpx files with caches on the device? Z.

Is the Garmin GPS 73 geocaching friendly.....it does not seem to be. Can you load caches to it at all ? It seems they have put the 73 in a ( Great ) 78 case and put the 79 in the 62 type case that tends to fall apart.

Is it possible to send Lists and PQs that I have on my iPad Pro to my older Garmin (mini-USB)?

For those who use this product, how do you like it? How is the City Navigator map function? My Oregon 450 is failing (the clip that holds the City Navigator no longer locks in place so no map shows) and I have no interest in paying $600 for a Montana unit. I’ve thought about buying a used 450, but am not really comfortable doing that. Thanks.

We picked up a discarded Garmin display on wheels - it is heavier than particleboard but not solid wood. The back is locked with a key we don’t have. It would make an interesting base/case for an indoor cache, for instance. We’re in New England - if interested (and you’re also in New England), let us know where you are located and we’ll see if meeting would be possible.

Dear Community, My loyal Garmin GPSmap 62s has these symptoms after I deleted an old - and loaded a new map: It powers up normally, halfway the loading bar it stops loading, then slowly the screen fades. When connected to usb abd my mac: it powers up as if not connected, then shows the normal usb connection screen, but then this starts to fade I tried the reset option: Page + Enter, it comes up in that reboot option screen, but no key gives a respons and the screen fades Replaced batteries, same result. Any thoughts, is it doomed? MaSL

I have used GSAK and Nuvi GPS for years. The Nuvi died and is no longer available. I bought a DriveSmart and discovered that that GPS will not accept the GPS data. Will the Garmin RV795 accept and display geocaches?

Hello everyone from my unfortuantely deceased girlfriend, who was my partner in geocashing so many years ago I inherited the Garmin etrex H. So far so good. since I don't wanna put all those waypoints manually in the device I want to connect my device with the PC. So I downloaded the Garmin express software, updated it, updated my garmin device and also downloaded the garmin usb drivers. But the software don't recognize my device, so I downloaded easy gps, but they say I have to download the usb drivers - which I already did. But it still doesn't work. so yeah, I do have windows 11 pro edition. Is there a possibiltiy to get this thing going, or am I doomed to put the waypoint manually in the device?? oh yeah, I also have a special thing called Digitus that connects my device with my PC. I can see the device in my PC. so pls help if you can. thank you

Misschien hoort het hier niet thuis alvast sorry. Maar hebben meer mensen problemen met downloaden van caches op de Garmin? Na veel gedoe is het gelukt om Garmin Express te updaten, dat is een omissie van Garmin. Nu werkt het... maar als ik 1x een cache heb gedownload krijg is steeds de melding dat ik een uodate moet doen van garmin express. Volgende caches kan ik dan niet downloaden. Ik klik dan op de link voor downloaden en kom op de website terecht. De eerste keer heb ik opnieuw gedownload, maar kreeg dan de melding dat express al up to dat was. Weer terug. En dan lukt het weer 1 of 2 caches, waarna de ellende opnieuw begint. Zit dat nu bij Garmin? Of zit er ergens op de website.een foutje? Ik hoor graag!

Es gibt bei OSM Karten die man dann zusammenfügen und entsprechend umwandeln muss. Da hab' ich für andere Länder schon Stunden über Stunden gesessen und im Endeffekt hat's nicht gefunzt. Es gibt aber auch Kartenmaterial was gleich als gpsmap.img vorliegt und ich die bloß ins Garmin kopieren kann. Nur von Madeira hab' ich da keine fertigen Karten gefunden. Hat da einer vielleicht einen Link?

There are a few apps for garmin devices out with which you can find nearby geocaches. What are the best ones? Do they support the Garmin Lily 2?

Since I started Geo caching I had used the Magellan GC. It worked awesome. Then it wasn't supported by the Geo caching site anymore for downloading caches. I stopped downloading new caches and just used what I had on my gps for a few years. Now I am looking for a new gps that works for geocaching with the same features as the Magellan. Maps included and ease of downloading. Also a huge thing for me is not having to use a phone to link it up.I did buy the Garmin Extrex SE and loaded some caches before heading out on our vacation and downloaded the app on the phone that they said we needed. It did not work at all. Very disappointing. I need a unit that requires no phone connection because cell service is non existent in alot of the areas I go to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also do not want to pay an arm and a leg for the unit.

On the top of the screen of my Oregon 450t is a grey banner. It's immediately there when I switch on the device. The info tekst I can add in the startup file is shown in this section so I think the display is working, but further on it stays grey. I already did a reset for the device but with no result. What can this be, and how can I solve it ? I can buy a replacing display on the internet, but I doubt if this will solve the issue. Regards, Marcel

Hi all, i have bought a used Garmin Oregon 450 and have some trouble understanding how maps work on the device: I would love to have 3 Maps available - World Basemap - Europe high level map (cities, main roads) - Sweden/Norway Hiking map It would be great to use OSM maps as a bases but as I dont have any experience in compiling maps from OSM data i need to use prebuild maps. A few question: 1. How does map management on the Orgeon work? Is it possible to have different maps for different zoom level. E.g. when zoomed out I see the basemap, fruther in i see the high lvl euopre map and if i zoom in i see the detailed hiking map 2. I found couple of maps (https://www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/garmin/de/nordeuropa.html; https://www.thkukuk.de/osm/). They are hiking maps and quite detailed, which I think makes them extemly slow/unsuable if zoomed out even a little 3. In the example of https://www.thkukuk.de/osm/ they provide a basemap, SRTM Layer map, hiking map. How would i combine those to see everything. 4. Do you know any good (free) World Basemaps and high-lvl (fast) Europe maps. Or ask differently: How would you get/Organize/transfer maps for my usecase? I'm unfortunately a bit lost. Thanks a lot

I am a returning geocacher and started off with the yellow and black Garmin eTrex. It worked well, was affordable, and simple to use. The only thing I felt it could do better with was the GPS accuracy. In most cases, I could only expect to get a fix that got me to within 15-30 feet of the intended target or cache. I know the newer versions of the eTrex, notably the eTrex 10 and eTrex SE, have the ability to access other navigation satellite systems, like GLONASS. Does this mean these two newer models can get more accurate location fixes than the original eTrex that I already have? Basically, the primary reason to upgrade to the 10 or SE would be to get more accurate location coordinates. If the 10 and SE are just as accurate as the eTrex, I think I'll keep my original GPS unit. Anyone here with advice or experiences concerning the coordinate accuracy of these models? I'm a long time user of Garmin units (20 years) starting with the most basic GPRr to the 650t which is no longer functional. I bought a 700i and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to reset the odometer. "Reset" on the trip computer will reset everything BUT the odometer. Does anyone know how to do this?

When I download a list direct to etrex the caches that I have already found do not download. I want to store them all so that the family can complete the circuit together

I have used Garmin Express for years to download lists on my Etrex 20 without problem, until today. I now get an error message and can't move forward. I am running the latest version of Garmin Express and I have the latest update on my Etrex. I Can see that my Etrex connects to Express. When I open Base camp, I can browse the files on my Etrex. I am not sure what to do. Gilles

Hi, my colleague has the garmin 60csx gps. He no longer uses it and is looking to sell it, however when i went to list it on an auction site i realised that it seemed to only have American marine maps on. does anyone know where i can get maps for it, before i list it for him. It was 100% purchased in the UK I know it takes a micro sd card. When i did try and put a garmin micro sd card (no idea what was on it) the machine kept turning off! Any info anyone can give would be appreciated.

Beste geocaches, Ik heb nogal slechte ervaringen met Garmin . 2 apparaten versleten in 5 jaar tijd. Garmin weigert mijn Oregon 700 van 3 jaar oud te repareren. Op internet kan ik niet echt een alternatief vinden op Garmin . Heeft iemand anders ook deze ervaringen met Garmin en weet iemand misschien een goed alternatief.
