  1. Hello! This might not be the correct forum but maybe another GC user had the same problem: I drive a new BMW 3er. This car has the built-in feature for Screen Mirroring. Sometimes I want to display the GC Android App on the car's screen and this works fine. But as soon as I start driving, the screen switches off with the note: "No motion pictues allowed while driving" (or something like that). From a safety perspective is this (in my mind) not different than a ordinary navigation system, so that I don't see a risk for that. Had anybody of you also the idea to display the Geocaching App in his car and has a solution for that? Regards, Michael
  2. Can't seem to get maps to work, and menu button doesn't work ? I'm pretty new at this. Unit powers up and I get to a curser , it tracks how far i go and that's it.
  3. Finally after many years, King Pellinore breaks the 200 caches found barrier. He found his first cache in 08/25/2001 and quickly became one of NJ's top cachers. Petering out at the end of 2006, his long hiatus (until 2019) was broken by a single find in 2013 of https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3A1QK_block-head He has been getting around a bit, adding states to his geocaching collection. Who knows, he might even place another cache!
LG Atti

  7. Howzit BMW GS geocachers. This years BMW eco challenge is happening from 18 to 21 October in Clocolan. Are there any GS riders who would like to join me on the trip. Do a few caches on the way down, a few during the event and a few back to JHB? Are there any other GS riders going from the other provinces?
  8. Hey there, new to the forum but not to geocaching or using GPS's...please forgive for what seems to be a general forum faux-pas in discussing, asking or otherwise talking about the horrible attributes oh the Magellan Triton 200,but I have simple needs and just want it to work when it should.I'm almost resigned to the fact that the availability of anything that will work on the unit is slim to none but possibly a member on here can put this to rest for good or offer a solution where I might obtain a working Topo map for the Triton. Thanks so much in advance!
  9. I have a Magellan Explorist 200 and would like to enter individual caches into it by entering each caches coordinates as found on Geocaching.com. How do I enter the coordinates as a POI? Or is there some other way to enter geocaches onto the Explorist 200? Thanks!
  10. Has anyone ever seen a BMW roundel Geocoin. I own a Bimmer and would like to turn it into a discoverable coin by posting the registration number onto my window or bumper (just like a TB sticker) but not at the cost of designing a coin and selling off the hundreds of extras. I tried to search online but got nowhere. Just as searching within the forums. Because BMW is a short word the forums just kick back an error, not a result. If you know where I might be able to get one that has not been activated, I would be very happy. Many thanks in advance. BigBadger
  11. I've been out of action for a while. Long enough that I can't remember how to use my GPS. Not so much the function...but getting caches onto the unit. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  12. I recently started Geocaching and love that I can combine it with my love for hiking. I always stay on the trails, but with GC I've now discovered great places off the trail both hiking and mtn biking that I can be comfortable exploring seeing as how people before me have blazed the way. Time to get a GPS! Its all about the kids this time of the year so my budget is $200 (Merry Christmas to me). I am comfortable with technology and would like something that won't be obsolete in a year or two. What I've found so far is: Garmin eTrex 20 and Magellan eXplorist 310. Which do you recommend and why? Is there another in this price range you would suggest? Thank you in advance for your advice!
  13. 14. there are two brothers who have set out 200 caches between the two. we have started turning the one gone in for NA because they are gone. me and another cacher have been replacing the missing ones and repairing the flat out busted ones. exactly how do you nicely ask them to take care of all their own caches from now on out or they will be turned in for NA if they are missing and if they don't want to do the up keep on them?

  16. Hey all. Bass pro is currently running the 62S for $199.99, and has a deal in FEB for free shipping. The total was $215.99 with tax. http://www.basspro.com/Garmin-62s-Handheld-GPS-Unit/product/10206510/ Later!
  17. I completely destroyed the screen on my 6 month old GPSr and I hope to replace it with something below $200 (will consider above $200 if it's a good value). I use it only for geocaching, so paperless geocaching is a must. Otherwise I will consider any model if the price is right but my preference is something like eTrax 20 or better or eXplorist 310 or better. I live in Hamilton Ontario Canada, any Canadian geocachers with a used GPSr collecting dust? Give me a price. Thanks!

  19. On April 30, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands will be followed up by her son Willem-Alexander. Also at the end of the year we will celibrate the 200th anniversary of the kingdom of the Netherlands. A geocoin has been designed for these occasions. The price of the coin will be € 9,50 (incl 21% VAT, VAT will be removed when delivering outside the EU). The coin has 6 gemstones on the front. Size: 45 mm There are four versions: antique bronze, antique silver, polished gold and satin gold. The geocoin is trackable via geocaching.com and has its own icon: You can now make a reservation here. The coins will be available by the end of april.
  20. Been caching for a while and I'm just starting to hide some caches. I borrowed a friends Oregon 300 to hide a series of 6 cashes and it worked quite well. Unfortunately I don't have $350 to spend on a new gpsr . I'm looking for something under $200.00 that I can use for finding and hiding caches. What's my best option?
  21. A friend of mine is having problems with his GPSMAP62ST. He went on a hike up around Bumping Lake (Washington State) and had between 20-200 feet difference on his track. The 62 is set to true north. I can see 10-20 feet difference but 200 plus feet on a hike. This is on a road or improved path and not bushwacking. The path is on the base map that came with the 62. It is up to date and the compass is always calibrated. The compass is set to auto so I don't know if that would cause that much of a difference. Any ideas?
  22. How do I find a specific cache? One of the puzzles in my area asks that I find the latitude of the 200,000the hidden cache according to this web site and another being the coords for the 500,000th. I don't know the name of these caches or who hid them. I've tried searching for the number but it's not listed as a number - I suppose it had an actual name - I checked the history of geocaching in the learning section and found nothing there either. Is there anywhere where this could be listed or where I could find the info on the web page - I searched the forums but it's not listed there either - how can I find this?
  23. Hi, I'm taking a 4 day cycle tour. I want to be able to save trip data from my garmin each day for a daily record. However, I also want a cummalitive total of data for all the days, as well, to upload to Garmin Connect at the end. Is this possible ? I can't get my head round how to do it. Any ideas? May thanks Martyn
  24. I have a Bushnell Onix 200 Color that I would like to sell or Trade for a Maggellan or Garmin Etrex. I know these Bushnells got a bad wrap but once I studied the books, it worked OK for me. I found it at first to be a bit confusing but after I got used to it, the software worked ok for me. With todays technology and simplicity of newer GPSs, the old timer Handhelds are a bit cumbersome. I downloaded GPSBabel and found it easy to work with the software that came with the Bushnell. Having the GC site up and downloading the caches, then using GPSBabel to convert into the Busnell software, It downloadeds right into the unit. The accuracy I have to say I found very good once in the field. I had my iphone app up in one hand and the onix in the other (paint that picture in your head) and both were right on. One thing I noticed right out of the box is the Onix found satilites right from my couch in me house. That impressed me. Anyway, please do not consider buying or trading if you are not one for digging in and really figuring these out. At first I fumbled over the menus and software but stuck with it and had good luck with this. Why am I getting rid of this? I use mostly my iphone now and want to trade for a simple unit so I can teach my grandchild the hobby. This Onix is above her head in learning I do have to admit. It comes with the software, book, and USB cable interface. The unit is in great condition cosmetically. I can send pictures if you are interested. I would rather trade this than sell it. Thanks for reading and if you are interesated and have any questions, please ask. I would like a clean and friendly exchange.
  25. Morning, yesterday i visited a graveyard. I noticed that only a few gravestones were older than ap. 200 years. 1300 graves -> only about 5 older than 200 years. It would make sense to waymark them because often the really old ones decompose within time, so pictures and names are away. I'm doing genealogical researches for my family, so having dates from old graves online would be great. Perhaps there is a category for them yet? Cheers lumbricus
