Isto está realmente complicado com interpretações históricas no mínimo interessantes... A Europcar remete para "paises sobre consulta" e já me esclarecerem que só cobre a Croácia e a Eslovénia. Para mim ficou claro, é o mesmo da Avis, Hert, Budget, etc. OK a Eslovénia já faz parte da EEUU e a Croácia está pronta para entrar. Os outros países ainda são muito esquisitos. Alugam localmente, mas não permitem a deslocação de veículos do 'Ocidente'. Agora a Sixt é surreal Nas condições gerais têm "Cross Border Rentals to Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and ex-Yugoslavia are only allowed with car groups ECMR, EDMR, CDMR, CWMR and IVMR." Para mim parecia-me claro como a água. Ok só podem ir carrinhos pequenos e há ali uma redundância entre Croácia e Slovenia e ex-Yugoslávia, que ou se reportava a Reino da Jugoslávia acabado em 1941 e que comportava o Reino dos Sérvios, Croatas e Eslovenos (muito pouco provável ) ou á República Socialista Federativa da Jugoslávia que acabou em 1992 que me parece ser a que faz lógica referir como ex-Jugoslávia e que tinha as républicas da Sérvia, Montenegro, Eslovénia, Croácia, Macedónia e Bósnia e Herzegovina ou á ultima versão República Federal da Jugoslávia composta pela Sérvia e Montenegro e que acabou em 2003 em que o nome Jugoslávia foi abolido. Isto para já não complicar com a independência do Kosovo de 2008 e com a autonomia da Vojvodina... Assim não vejo como raio conseguem ter uma interpretação de ex-Yuguslávia como a que me foi esclarecida por mail "Ex-Yugoslavia is Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Croatia." Se estou um pouco receoso de ir á aventura pela Europcar e esperar para que não aconteça nada, não me parece que a Sixt consiga defender esta interpretação de ex-Yuguslávia em nenhum lado. Never mind the Drix, just a name evolving from Hendrik (birth certificate, but you'll ruin a friendship if you call me that! ) which was replaced by Drikus to distinguish between all the Hendriks in the family years ago, which became Drix by friends after school. And yes, my current F800GS is the official Dakar F650GS replacement, but they didn't call it the Dakar or the Adventure as some expected... to me, the Dakar (bike) will always be special as it started my second life as a biker (or more specific an adventure biker, as these bikes are classed) and my geocaching path started soon after, the perfect marriage! Trackz introduced me to geocaching, but I didn't quite get it - GreenJaM made me get it, so I'm grateful to both! A real highlight is still doing our 500th find together (with GreenJaM) within 12 months from registration (for both of us) - took some juggling near the end to make it co-incide. So, although I don't ride a Dakar anymore, it will be my great memory forever, so dakardrix it will stay... Over to you... maybe you can explain your own Bavarian/BMW link..? Oh yes, forgot about Trackz...sure I read about that in one of your logs. Oops, I got the model name all incorrect...it is late, I haven't had much sleep lately !! So does this mean it is our turn to go? Can't believe it 'cause I haven't been able to be on line much lately!

Definitely "Dakar" from the old BMW FS650 Dakar bike that you used to have. (Nice replacement by the way). I'm not sure about the "Drix"? Something from when you were a young lad? I think it was GreenJaM that got you hooked into geocaching if my memory serves me correctly.

I agree with the GPSr being more accurate. The first time I used one to check, the speedo read 60 and the GPSr was 54. So, I went to a forum for for my car (BMW) to ask what others could tell me about the speedo, and learned that BMWs have a 7% margin built in (on the high side, obviously). Interesting to see the post from GermanSailor about it being the law in Germany.

thanks for the info. yes, by "recently downloaded" i mean during the last week, and it doesn't seem to depend on cartridge, but it does seem to depend on the user. I might have isolated the problem, though: For me, the "15-digit" unlock codes always seem to have 16 characters. (example is the BMW tour in moscow, which gave me an unlock code GE3TAOBVGQYTSNZQ) When i try to unlock with this code, it fails. But when i deleted the last Q, the 15-character unlock code (GE3TAOBVGQYTSNZ) was accepted. (emulator reads 16 characters too, so this is not openwig-specific) i sent a message to the other users to confirm this

I sent a message to Groundspeak about this. Actually, I couldn't try it myself at that time. I had just finished shooting a haunted attraction and was in my car a little past 2AM, reading the topic. It was one of those busy weekends. I have now had time to test this. I downloaded and successfully unlocked the BMW Tour in Moscow cartridge. Can you do so, matejcik? If you can, which cartridge did you try to produce the problem? And by "recently downloaded cartridge," you mean a cartridge downloaded within the past week, right? I'm going to guess this may be related to the cartridge download problem we recently experienced. The cartridge download error, from what I've been able to gather from talking with Groundspeak, was related to creating the unlock code for user accounts. It makes sense to guess the same users who had trouble downloading cartridges will now have trouble unlocking them. However, matejcik didn't have trouble downloading cartridges, so there might be a little more to this.

Jest tam kilka wynalazków, które naprawdę warto obejrzeć, jeśli ktoś lubi silniki. In the vain chance of stirring someone up I have noticed that the members of this community that dont log online, also seem not to place caches! or take out premium memberships! this would lead me to believe that this class of cacher would be in the take take take section of the wider community. we all know the type and whether we like or dislike what they do, we all know that there is nothing that we can do about them. But they know who they are and just how selfish and self centred they are. you know i bet they drive BMW's as well! Why do they cache? because its free! and they dont letterbox because its not! and not kept up to date! or as easy! as it is to geocache I also know how much this winds me and others up! so you know who you are Play The Game By The Rules or dont play

Hello Mrs. Landsharkz!! I understand all that. I guess I'm just more of a old-fashioned and trusting type person. The coin that I'd like to have would be more of a tribute than a pirated scam. On that note. It's not legal to infringe a copyright but it's totally fine if I were to bastardize the logo and make the coin appear similar to the company logo but maybe satirized or ... Heck I could even make them look something other than good as long as I dont "Copy" the logo. It's just dumb. But anyway, I digress.... And I should get back on topic. Anyone got a BMW geocoin?

Thanks. But I was hoping to just have my car as the Trackable with a custom BMW-like icon and associated coin as opposed to a TB.... which I can buy locally anyway as a sticker or magnet and leave on my car.... Thought it would be simpler than its turning out to be.

Buy a TB tag, attach it to the BMW roundel, and set it loose in a cache. Save the copy tag for in case it goes missing.

I never thought of the problems that might be associated with copyright infringement. I've seen Starbucks, Golden Arches, and many other logos turned into a coin. So I just assumed it would be a grey area problem. Like really, what company in their right mind would not want free advertising? Howdy neighbour! BB, it's not the 'free advertising', they're happy to pay for advertising. BMW worked long and hard to brand themselves so well, that you want to make it into a trackable and they're not going to be too happy if someone makes a coin using their brand and makes money off it. Some companies won't touch that with a 10' pole and others have reasons for deciding to produce it. Maybe they are personal coins that are not being sold or non-trackable? We've turned down coins that are pure copyright infringements - Harley Davidson comes to mind as one we declined to produce for resale. Feel free to come over and chat to Chris about it if you want to know more about copyrights and stuff.

I'm a bit of a bimmerhead (motorcycle & car) and would've jumped on a rondel geocoin if it existed. As Jackalgirl already sed... copyright issues could be a problem. On a related note my avatar is the BMW motoguy and because of that I've been reluctant to make a geocoin with it. Edit to add: You can always buy a rondel from the dealership and turn it into a TB by attaching a TB dog tag.

I knew I was a trend setter! My top quality cow print cost me £10 (I had to apply it myself), I had it done once the cowmoobile got to 200K miles, and I thought why not? So far I have seen in cow print: 2 separate Pug 307s 1 Range Rover another Citroen ZX a BMW mini ...what was that one on Brean Beach?... think it was something like a Mondeo oh, and LOTS of Robert Wiseman trucks!! you could always cow print your fridge!

I have to agree with the OP's post/rant whatever. I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of a magpie and I like my goodies, darn it! I go so far as to not even look for micros or even smalls, because I prefer to dig through a "goodie box" such as it is. I have found broken pens, a broken Chinese finger puzzle, business cards (which I agree are lame), and lots of broken toys. I think what bums me out the most are those friggn' fast-food toys, even if they are new-in-bag. They bum me out because when my little kids find them they are so excited - the toys seem to have so much potential, being so colorful and strangely shaped - and then when my kids get them out of the little bags and figure out what they do (nothing) they are disappointed. I try to up the ante wherever I go. I leave 1) New items from our local dollar store, and 2) Crocheted washcloths that I make. I read all over the forums before to see what people said they liked and keep that in mind when I go shopping. <slightly off topic pity party> I have been watching the logs where I put the washcloths. I'm not looking for a ticker-tape parade or anything, but I was hoping that someone would at least make a note that they traded for one. I kinda wanted some indication that someone out there thought it was cool. I haven't seen any reference to one yet. What do you guys think? Would you think it's cool or lame? It IS just a washcloth after all. I guess it could be considered kinda weird. </end pity party> Some one pointed out to me on another post I spawned that ended up talking about swag, that if everyone always traded up, eventually you'd find the keys to a BMW. So in reality it is unrealistic to expect that swag will always be traded up.

Ummm... did you do any research at all before becoming a participant in this game? The VERY 1ST CACHE was a bucket full of goodies to share. That was the point. (That, and getting to geek out with your newly accurate GPS.) At the risk of starting a fire on the forum, that really bites! From what you described, I would say that it is 95% probable that it was snagged by a scumbag. Why people have no regard to others property is beyond me. I hope you can forgive and forget, that way you experience less stress over what is really a inanimate object. (expensive yes, but not what the earth revolves around) The 60Cx is a great little unit, no doubt about that. Do you want to go to paperless caching? Do Garmin products still hold favor for you? Has another manufacturers product caught your eye lately? Have you had a chance to try other GPSr's that friends use? We can get into a Ford is better than Chevy better than Dodge better than BMW........ type of exchange, or just agree that it is a personal choice that you are going to make, hopefully after some diligent research.

In the purest sense, geocaching is about the hunt, not the trade. but, if the container is large enough, trading does take place. You see, if you choose to hide a container large enough to hold anything other than the logbook, folks will trade trinkets. Unless some eccentric comes by and leaves the keys to a BMW. When you hide a cache you should start it out with items you want to give away. Don't expect to get anything of value in return other than the logs of folks that enjoyed hunting your cache. Travel bugs and geocoins are a seperate item. they are sent out in the world to travel. they are not trade items. they are not ment to be kept. but the topic of TBs is discussed elsewhere.
