  1. Two weeks in and if anything it is now more broken than before. I now get to see 5 pages of 200 future events from all over the world, no sign of the 30 mile radius from home that there used to be. At least the sort order seems to be correct 2023! is the first cache on the list, though it is over 10000 miles away. I can go in and add or correct all the parameters myself, but then that would be classed as a 'Premium' feature.
  2. ola boa tarde a todos venho pedir-vos ajuda procuro uma loja em portugal que venda o cabo usb para o meu triton 200 se alguem souber de alguma coisa que me diga por favor . boa tarde e obrigado
  3. I'm relatively new with this GPS, and GPS's in general. I use the Oregon 200 (which up til now has been quite good) and usually have a Blackberry with Geocache Navigator going as well. We're driving through town the other day and I notice that the Oregon is showing our path is about 15 metres parallel to the road. My friend who has an older Garmon 60Csx(?) says I may need to recalibrate the GPS but we couldn't figure out if that was possible. Also the distance to cache on approach was way different than the Blackberry and way off the mark much of the time. How do I rectify this problem?? Thanks
  4. Finally getting my first GPS and I have a budget of $200. I found a used Garmin Dakota 10 for $200. If I want to go paperless, would this be my best option? Wide open for any suggestions. Thanks all!
  5. Using GPS trackmaker and my Oregon 200. The realtime navigation feature don't seam to work. Any ideas?
  6. Other then screen size I can't see much difference between the two. Except the Oregon $200 is bringing $100 bucks less on ebay, I can get it for $200 vs. the Dakota 20 which will run me $300. Seems odd the "lower" model is bringing less money. Experiences, differences?
  7. Recently purchased an Oregan 200. Went to geocaching.com and downloaded several paperless caches to internal memory. Everything worked fine by just clicking the box next to the listing and clicking the next icon over to send to my GPS. Problem is now that they are on my GPS I have no way of deleting or clearing from memory now that I have logged as a find. I have searched all over the menus and can't find a delete option. Any ideas? I would like to download a list and as I find caches mark as waypoint and then delete or upload to a software program. They are currently downloaded into Geocache Folder that is preloaded on Oregan 200. Would appreciate anyones expertise and suggestions.
  8. Is there any way to use Garmin's mapsource topo 2008 to place maps in the Oregon 200?
  9. One of the leaders of our local cache group posted this. Figured I'd pass it on..... LINK Later!
  10. I am in the beginning stages of developing two seperate but mostly unrelated earthcaches with the ideal location for both being within 200 feet of each other. Is this allowed? If you'd like to know more, see below. First, the location is a unique spot located off the interstate in North Dakota. There is an informational display there with facts about wind development in ND and also a single modern wind turbine. This spot also happens to be located on a distinctive glacial end moraine. Originally, I started out to develop an EC about the end moraine. Scoping out the site, I thought it may also be interesting to do another EC about why it's so windy in North Dakota (part of which is the lack of terrain roughness and locally the elevated position of this particular spot). The site has minimal amenities, basically just a parking lot with the signage, surrounded by farm land. I would place the wind EC by the sign and the end moraine EC at the opposite edge of the parking lot. Yes, it is possible to relocate the Wind EC to one of many wind developments in ND, but not all have informational displays or are on a well-traveled path. Of course this is also contingent on land owner permission and approval. Just wondering if it's even allowed or I shouldn't waste my time? Thank you!
  11. I got my new Oregon 200 in the mail a few days ago, and I used it for the first time yesterday!! For the most part, I find the operation to be very intuitive, which is nice, because the user guide leaves something to be desired... There are some things I can't figure out how to do: - In geocaching mode, once I have selected a cache to navigate to, how do I get the GPS to display the distance and direction to the cache? - After I have found a geocache, I enter a few notes to remind me about the find. How do I access these notes later when I am logging online? - When I look at my list of found caches, they don't seem to be in any logical order. How can I distinguish new finds from old finds? (for the purpose of logging online)
  12. I have a Oregon 200 Garmin and have been geo caching with it, I can NOT figure out how to delete the FOUND geo caches from it without setting it back to manufacture settings or to delete all the geo caches from it at once.....my 60cx was a whole lot user friendly as far as figureing this out, even read the manual and it doesn't tell you anything anyone out there have one and know how to do this PLEASE let me know.
  13. I am using a Garmin Oregon 200 and I installed a 2 Gb card but no where in the GPSr is there an option to even say that there is a card there. I bought the trail TOPO from Garmin and it wont download because it says there is only 22Mb available on the unit when there is a whole 2Gb waiting. Can anyone help me with this?
  14. Well I have decided that I would like either the garmin 62s or the delorme pn-60 but I don't have the available cash to buy one new nor do I have the patience to save up for a couple months or wait for a great sale. So I thought I would post a WTB here and see if there are any good deals on a used model. Willing to take a generation older model to get started. Thanks for looking. All offers will be considered. 15. Hi everyone, sure hope someone can help us. We just received our Oregon 200. However I have a couple of ??? first Is there a way to set up a Alarm or beep or something to alert us when we are within 100 ft or less? Our Garmin Venture does it but we cannot seem to find a way on the 200. Manuals and me don't mix so its a bit confusing reading it. Next- We read where we can change the pic on screen. My husband found Image veiwing and started messing with it and now we have the football pic as our screen . We cannot get it back to the rocks which I actually liked. How do we do that? Or get and keep another one of the pre made ones in here. Third- When we hook up the GPS to computer the screen just has a pic of it being connected. The Venture actaully comes on and I can watch the cahes load from Gsak.. Is this supposed to be like that? Last when we do connect we get 2 screens pop up. 1 is how we want to tranfer pictures. The other is the c drive one. What do we do with these? We just x out of them. Sorry this is long but we could really use the help. Thanks so much in Advance Michelle and Jeff
  16. I am selling a Delorme PN-40 (Its in perfect condition) with everything other than the Topo software and the West Coast maps. (I lost those two CD's that came with the package, but I do have the west coast maps installed on the device) If you are interested please contact me on my E-mail at onewaytorock@live.com and maybe we can work something out! Thanks!
  17. Yes and no. Sure, the fundamental structure of the Garmin units remains the same since the switch from the non-paperless to paperless caching units. (or I guess I should say from the units that fully support mass storage mode and those that don't). Once can easily pick up an Oregon 200 or Colorado and still load it up with a PQ file and go geocaching. On the other hand, the hardware itself has a limited shelf life, and the plastic and rubber on those old units is going to break down much faster from a current date of purchase than something newer. And the newer body style of the Oregons seem to be made of more durable materials than that of the Oregon 200-450 series. It's not always easy to find those older units in new or decent condition, whereas the 600 can still be found unopened at the $200 or less price point. Of course, the OP decided on a 700, which will will last them quite a long time.
  18. OOPS! Deleted again. Oh Well, Here's a sanitized version : April 2, 2020 - Gas is 89 cents April 2, 2022 - Gas is $1.89 - Diesel is $1.93 (Gas, in this area at least, topped out at about $1.99, somewhat higher on the coast.) What a difference seemingly small things such as oil prices can exert upon our lives!!! Got an email from France a couple of days ago, and I quote: "€200 for 60 liters" [for diesel]. That translates to $Cdn4.60 per litre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which becomes $Cdn20.49 per Imperial gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now let's translate that further to US $ per US gallon for the US viewers: - $13.64 per gallon So, we can all quit our bitchin' on this side of the pond. The folks on the other side of the pond are taking an economic hit that we are, to date, fortunate to have somewhat avoided, in spite of what many may perceive! Keith
  19. So i just recently started geocaching and my prime and only GPS that im using right now is the Garmin Nuvi 200. I was just wondering if any one else has used this GPS and if they find it reliable or not. So far its been pretty good to me although recently it has lead me a few feet away from the cache's exact location. Im wondering if its inaccurate and I'm kinda worried that it will lead me in the wrong direction for future caches. Nevertheless, like i mentioned it has been working for me decently well so far and i dont really have the money to buy a new one. Im just wondering if anyone is also lukewarm with this GPS. Basically i need to hear someone elses experiences good and bad.
  20. My pc doesn't recognize my Oregon 200, I plug in the usb cable and the gps just turns on. I've never seen it turn on completely under usb power. I'm runnin 3.82. Any ideas? Thanks
  21. Those, almost blank puzzles, has been very interesting ones for me. Five years ago, a CO made series of ten D5 puzzle caches and each of them had 20 almost blank 500+ pieces Jigidi puzzles to solve in a row. I managed to make all of these 200 puzzles (about 100 000 pieces together) but got only six FTF of ten possible because some caches were too difficult for me to find. In Finland we have over 1500 Jigidi puzzle caches (list1 list2) and new ones are popping out continuously. In this context @Ms Maddy's complain about severe problems seems quite odd, because I have seen no discussion about such problems with Jigidi caches in Finland. In many cases Jigidi is only part of the cache idea to get more hints or another task (Like ROT-13). For example, in my own puzzle cache GC8YPR8 you must solve three Jigidi puzzles at first, but then you will get more challenges with another type of tasks. I think that you are absolutely correct, but statistics tells another story. The example puzzle above contains three jigsaws and when I open the leaderboard of the first one I see 478 solvers It is an amazing number of players!
  22. I have Triton 200 for sale as I just upgraded to T400. It comes with USB cable but I do not think I have the original box anymore. The screen has few light scratches but they are invisible when GPS is on. Case is in excellent condition. All buttons/features work 100%. It has the better basemap loaded. I bought it new and used to find about 50 caches. Very good first GPS. You can load Google maps (street, topo) on it easily and for free. Price: $50 shipped (using the USPS $4.95 flat rate box).
  23. I'm looking to sell a 1yr old Garmin Oregon 200 that has my geocaching name engraved on the top. the engraving is not really visible unless you really look for it. The touchscreen has always had a screen protector on and is in perfect condition. Anyway, it has City Navigator 2010 loaded on the SD card. I've lost the DVD, but I have the unlock code written down. What would a good asking price be for it? I'm planning to safely sell it on eBay.
  24. Oh what fun this is..Already have found a few,,but need to know what is a good Touchscreen GPS. Gave my friend a Magellan and like it but would love a touch screen. Any ideas? Anyone got one like new condition for under $200, closer to $100 or a little more. best to email me at debi@mssticks.com
