  1. I seldom post here, but I'll throw my 2 cents in. I did a side by side shakedown run between my trusty 60csx and my new Colorado this past weekend. While the Colorado has a lot of nice new features the display was miserable in bright sunlight (at least by my eyes). Even with full backlight on, it was much harder to read than the 60csx with no backlight on. As for accuracy, they were pretty much equal. The 60csx seemed to do a little better under really dense canopies. I think manually entering coordinates is quicker on the 60csx, but that may be because I'm more familiar with the unit. I really like the Colorado, but I have the feeling that my 60csx is still going to be my primary. My Oregon should arrive tomorrow, so I guess I'll have to do a 3 way comparison this weekend.
  2. I've been sucessfully using the macro on my 660 & 680 for about a month with no issues. Decided to create a POI file for my Kenwood KNA-G510 unit I have in my Jeep. Told the macro it was a 6xx series nuvi and it works great in the Kenwood. Just thought I'd let other Kenwood users know they have this wonderful option. Many thanks for this macro.

  4. Not going to work. In order for anything to be displayed in an in dash unit it has to get a video in signal. I know of no handheld which produces video out.
  5. In the Input/Output screen it should be set for Data Transfer for the format and Slave Mode for the transfer. I haven't messed around much with GSAK. EasyGPS will upload data to the unit. While the 195 has been a trusted friend in the cockpit (now replaced by a 496) it isn't much for geocaching in my opinion. I've tried it and the results were poor at best. Good luck.
  6. You can setup custom routes in Mapsource and download them. I never do it since Garmin's routing is pretty good. I have noticed that routing in my Nuvi 660 is far more aggressive than any of the Streetpilots I own.
  7. Buy the Nuvi 660 if it is in your budget. You can enter coordinates directly into it and the interface and display is much nicer than the 26xx & 27xx series Streetpilots in my opinion. You can also drop your pocket queries into it and see the caches (and select them as a goto) as you drive along. It is kind of cool when you have it in 3D view.
  8. The Nuvi will only give you the waypoints/caches. When you upload your pocket queries, it will display which caches you've found and the ones you haven't. Can't do paperless with it, but it is a very nice unit.
  9. Sorry for the post/double post. I figured out my problem. Windows Vista! Went back to a XP machine and the POI help files came up just fine. Figured out how to include a .bmp file. Still dealing with transparancy issues but I'm on the right track.
  10. New to geocaching but not new to the GPS world. I'm trying to upload points from a pocket query to a KNA-G510 and have the cache icons displayed. I'm using POI Loader and using either the raw .gpx file or washing it through EasyGps or GSAK and getting the same results. The points show up as little green balls instead of the little cache boxes I'm trying to get. The KNA-G510 is a Kenwood piece, I suspect it is the same as the Garmin GVN 52. Garmin supports the Kenwood unit but are clueless on this topic. It is not that big a deal, but it is nice to drive along and see the caches in the distance in case I want to stop. I've had no issues getting this to work with my Nuvi or any of my other Garmin products. I was looking at one thread and it talked about creating .bmp files for the POI Loader. I can't seem to find any FAQs on Garmin's site and if I click on Help in POI Loader, it is not found. If someone could kick me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
