  1. And how many came in ATHLETICS. I am not talking sports played by a minority of rich countries like rowing. We are falling through the floor. We have the most unfit overweight children for generations. It is no use having a very few stars and no wide base. As for winning medals the Chinese are coming. And also as ever there is the problem of drugs and perhaps even genetic tampering. Writing twice as much is not going to change anything is it?
  2. Talk about rubbish nutrition and it rears its ugly head everywhere
  3. No and I will not let that statement get in the way of a good RANT
  4. And selling off school playing fields and supplying rubbish nutrition at schools RANT
  5. Proud of what!! Athletics in this country is at such a low ebb we may not have a single decent shot at a medal by 2012 unless something radical is done to help sport and fitness back where it belongs in the school curriculum. And thats just for starters. RANT
  6. Just noticed they are nearly all puzzle caches. If this is not a windup good luck to the guy. But if he is not on the level note that the last cache is Travelbug Travelodge GCPG33 by Freddy McTavish with plenty of Travel bugs in it. Could the same trick, if it is one, be played again.
  7. Had a quick look at the logs and seem to think that nearly all of them are still actively caching
  8. From what we recall this cache was used to supply co-ords for The Northern Cache Bash back in 2003,June 14th. This was organised by Mosstrooper and was a small meeting compared with what happens 2 years down the line. Saying that it was a good bash enjoyed by all. Thinking about it a lot of the participants are still geocaching. At the time I think there were not too many people with over a 100 cache finds! Also there were not anything like as many caches. Obviously a quick growing sport.
  9. Yes, We are sure W.Yorks suffers from a surfeit of puzzle caches produced by the likes of the infamous Slytherin and that Rutson person closely followed by, well, lots of others too many to list. We now leave the county to get some relief and to do some straightforward caching !! Just thinking about it makes my head hurt. There is also another person? occasionally allied to Rutson called Doggit(taught all he knows by the cunning Fruity) who seems to be up and coming. So in WYorks to geocache you need internet access, an intimate understanding of quantum theory, a First in Googlology and a long string of seaweed (to help with weather forecasting). It is also useful to have a mobile phone for help with hints and clues for the really arkward ones.
  10. Hot diggerty dam, we want to get to this one but work strikes again-something called clearing getting in the way.
  11. Hope to be there if there is a following wind. Not been Durham way for a long time. Really looking forward to it, Tim and Debs.
  12. Hi Rebel Alliiance, I am not too much of a technogeek but if you go to www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk and Fastlink P2285 or P2284 I am sure all will become clear. Just for the record -iPAQ h2210 and a Garmin 60CS. Hope this will be of help.
  13. We have Memorymap at 1:25000 for the Dartmoor area which I download onto my iPAQ-FANTASTIC as I can then link it up to my Garmin and off we go. Sufficient reason to have an iPAQ. The biggest problem of course is the price of Memorymap partly due to the license fees they have to pay to the OS.Anquet is another product that seems to have a lot to offer. Tracklogs I just cannot to proper grips with and is not downloadable to a pda at all at the moment although I think it is being worked on. Isys is another product that seems quirky. Fugawi could be so much better, they seem to make things very difficult. All the above are my own humble opinion.
  14. Like Memorymap better than Fugawi, in my view less clunky and better behaved and also good technical help.
  15. Eeh ecky thump, Thanks to Sheards and chaswatson for their help. A whole new world has opened up. Ready to spend money on something but what?
  16. Just to verify. I have an hp IPAQ h2210 but only one expansion slot or am I missing something?
  17. Finally after mucho tribulation going on for the best part of 18 months have finally got a decent broadband connection. And finally managed to watch this EPIC!!-great fun- well done!!!
  18. What a great idea We were totally hacked off that we could not make the Camping Event but we go up into the Lakes a lot and would probably manage to get up in August. Can the non-swingers come and watch-and take photos?
  19. Yaa!!Sucks!!Boo!! Want to be there, have to be there,cry-and having a good time and the weather is nice-you lucky people Really hope to be able to get there
  20. Do not think geocachers have been involved so we will be unaware as to whether due care and attention has been given to permission and placement etc What is worrying is that the scale of the event is massive for an area like the Lake District and even local people seem to be upset by various aspects of the event although they are used to visitors. Obviously we do not want any adverse publicity arising from damage to walls etc and also trespass
  21. We hope to do a flying visit to meet you all but will depend on traffic conditions and also The Head for The Hills event which it is said may have attracted up to 15k people into the Ambleside area(7,500 extra cars?) involving Garmin and Memorymap who are apperently putting on some kind of geocaching event. We are suprised nobody else has picked up on this but be prepared for a lot of newbies who may be let loose in the Lake District National Park area !! without a real understanding of Geocaching. We would not like to see Geocaching to be banned from National Park areas. On a lighter note we are dead jealous and hope to see all of you sometime over the weekend. Tim and Debs, The Hungry Caterpillars
  22. Nothing to do with the rights and wrongs of Letterboxing and a lot more to do with your attitudes to people who Letterbox. We go down to Dartmoor and Letterbox,Geocache and also Trig. We go down 2-3 times a year including the time the Dartmoor meet is happening. After reading the comments about not going to certain campsites because Letterboxers may or may not be there you become to think there is a problem of some kind that we are unaware of. We would have liked to have come to the meet but are now unsure whether we would be welcome or not so please explain either on this forum or if you cannot explain your attitudes on the forum please feel free to e-mail us. Thankyou?
