  1. First of all, I don't use GSAK. Second, I only generate "changed within last 7 days" PQs, not full ones. So this does not work for me.
  2. That's exactly, what I mean. It would help a lot and save a big amount of time feeding the gps-devices.
  3. Is there any way to create a PQ with the archived caches of a region? I update my database regularly with PQs "changed within the last 7 days". It works fine, besides the fact, that archived caches remain. How can I filter them out without reconstructing my database from the scratch? It would help, if the archive information was included in the "changed within last 7 days" PQ. If it is to much hustle to create archived PQs.
  4. If it was just for reducing load to the mailserver, there was an easy way to do that: -500 PQs are mailed compressed or uncompressed 500+ PQs are only mailed compressed It was so easy, if they wanted it. There must be any other reason, that they don't send it via email. Maybe it is the advertising? I don't know.

    PQ 1000 issue

Nice idea. But pretty useless for me. Since my incoming PQs are automatically processed by a batch script, I cannot use the download PQs. So I'm still limited to 500. If you want to improve: The PQ "updatet within the last 7 days" on my area of interest exceeds my 500s every time (some 600-700) since I'm close to a big city. "Updated within the last 3 days" (or 2 days) would help a lot.
  6. Hello, some of you complained about armchair-logs in caches from european (german) people. For your explaination: In some European countries, we have two big platforms for geocaching. One is Groundspeak, the other one is the free and non-commercial. In Germany: www.opencaching.de. On our free platform, virtual armchair caches are allowed and nobody complains about that. So many german geocachers have no problems with virtual caches and armchair logs. Some of us (including me), have no problem to log a cache after solving a diffucult riddle and/or discovering interesting historic details on interesting places. Logging a geocaching-event ist just the same for me. I don't use a GPS to go there. No search and find. But still a log. I still remember several virtual caches, made for armchair-logging (even in the U.S.) on geocaching.com. Not so long time ago, Groundspeak decided, to stop armchair-caches on geocaching.com and archived a high number of those caches without prior notice. This decision has to be respected, but not every geocacher noticed this change in the rules. If you insist on being personally there before writing a log, nobody will force you to solve and log riddle-caches. If you don't like armchair-logs on your cache, put a physical container with logbook there or ask for a photo with GPS at the spot! If you don't like germans, just write: "No German Logs!" Feel free to do with your cache, whatever you like. Greetings from Germany Alfred
  7. That's not the problem. Usually I know, in which area I will be for the next days. So I can easily configure which area I want. It's just the fact, you are promised to get it on your "cell phone or other mobile device" and they do send nothing to your cell phone or mobile device. They just send you a pretty useless email. I got an answer from Groundspeak and it seems, they will refund me and cancel my membership. I hope they keep this promise.
  8. Thanks! At least one who reads and thinks before writing. The fact is, you get a big promise for features if you pay for becoming a PM. After your payment is done, you see they promised you a big can of s***. There is no way to find this out, before you paid. My phone was able to connect to the internet. But you don't know, how much German providers charge you for online-time if you don't sign a high-volume contract. I'm not a really newbie. I was a basic member for quite some time. But seeing the advert for PM, I thought it was worth $30 p.a. to get the chance of finding new caches while I'm on tour.
  9. They are getting to my cell phone only due to additional payments I have to pay for each SMS, converted from email by my provider. And what I get is a lot of character-jam with the name of a new cache. I can't look up the listing page, while I'm on tour, since I don't have internet-access in my car.
  10. My PQs are not running for several days now. I tried to edit and repost them and they worked - once. Now, everything stopped. Same problem with notifications. They come very rarely.
  11. Yes, exactly I know that. But Groundspeak says, as a PM, you could get notifications to your cell phone: Look there: https://www.geocaching.com/Membership/Default.aspx (only visible, if you are non PM, otherwise you have to log out to see it!) "Be Instantly Notified of Geocaches Be the first to find a geocache when you receive Instant Notifications about newly published geocaches on your cell phone or other mobile device." It says, you receive it on your cell phone! Not on your computer! Forwarding email to sms is pretty useless without coordinates, if I have no internet available. If I have internet-access, I don't need any sms, since I get my emails. And, on the other hand - if you use your providers gateway to convert email to SMS, you have to pay extra for each SMS. So where is the Premium Feature that made me pay 30$ for a membership? If it does not exist: Does anybody know, how I can withdraw my membership and get my money back?
  12. ... Be Instantly Notified of Geocaches Be the first to find a geocache when you receive Instant Notifications about newly published geocaches on your cell phone or other mobile device. ... How can I activate this service? I paid for my premium membership due to this feature. Now I can't find, how to activate the Instant Notifacion to my mobile phone. I can only activate the notification via email to my provider's email-sms-gate. But this does not work on my phone, since the SMS contains many unknown characters in the beginning and I don't receive coordinates of new geocaches.

    Bandwidth limit?

Today it works without any problems. After approx. 2 Minutes, the page is shown and I can have a look at the logs. Thx to the unknown person who turned the necessary switches!

    Bandwidth limit?

I'd like to read e.g. 50 logs per page, but there are only two choices: only the last five or all.

    Bandwidth limit?

I'm not talking about my local network. This is 1Gb/s with 10Gb/s backbone. My internet connection ist 100Mb/s straight to the Tier1-backbone. File download from fast FTP-servers run at about 8MByte/s. This is even faster than my harddisk. This is not my private line. On my private side, I have only 3Mb/s. If a had the problems only at home, I was sure, it is my line. But since I had the same problems on the fast company line (different provider, different Tier1), this might be a common problem. Maybe it's the transatlantic-connection to Groundspeak? Or it is a bandwith limit for non PMs. Nobody denied that officially, yet. P.S.: since yesterday afternoon, it looks slightly better.

    Bandwidth limit?

After several days of trying, I managed to load the page once. A few hours later, it did not work again. On a 100Mb/sec. direct line (when downloading a file, it takes more time to write it on the harddisk, than the downloading itself, one would expect more performance.

    Bandwidth limit?

Does it make any difference, that you are a PM? Is there a limit for non-PMs?

    Bandwidth limit?

If it was just waiting. The page never shows up. Even if I wait for a full day.

    Bandwidth limit?

The gallery is no problem at all. It's the page with the older logs (link "View them all on one page" at the bottom of the page). GC6D43 - all logs

    Bandwidth limit?

For some weeks now, I do not manage to load pages with all logs, if there are to many. It's no problem to look at GC6D43 (e.g.). But when I click on "show all logs on one page", it never shows up. I'm very sure, this is not a bandwith problem on my side, since I tried at home and at work (100M direct line). It happens with several caches, once they have a bigger number of logs. Is there any bandwidth limit at Groundspeak's site?
  21. I didn't get any mails from Groundspeak yet. Adverts show up everywhere, but the mail service is a disaster.
  22. The new design looks better. But it's buggy: some printouts do not show the Header (logo, frog, coordinates, size, log count ...) I miss the "distance from home coordinates" very much It's a nice feature to rearrange the layout. I like to have the map on the top page (for route planning). Therefore I move it to the top. But why do I have to do this for every single print? It would be much easier, if my personal layout was saved in a cookie or - better - in my profile.
  23. Once again. No mails. Not even the FTF-Log for my new Cache.
  24. No emails here. And a lot others complaining as well. It does not depend on the provider. They are just not sent or cued up somewhere.
  25. Quite common here. There is an alternative database for Germany on a different website. Since they are much faster in approving/listing, we are quite often days behind.
