Does anyone know of any caches in southern Ontario (i.e. south of Sudbury!) that are optimal for sledding? Along an OFSC trail would be ideal!
  2. I had one for a couple of weeks (bought it as a gift, and I had to make sure it wasn't broken! ) At the end of my period with it, I decided I would never buy one. The screen was practically unusable in regular daylight when mounted in my car cradle. At night, it was beautiful, but the screen technology just didn't work in direct sunlight. Other than that it worked fine, lots of RAM, barometric altimeter was cool, as was the electronic compass.
  3. That might explain why these coins go missing so easily I have released three into the wild, and I haven't heard from them in over a year. If people are turned off by the email requirement, they probably just get lost. But in support of Geocoins, I have never received an unsolicited email. I just wish they could be integrated like travel bugs, or jeep bugs or any number of other devices which seem to be supported by gc.com
  4. I saw them at the CES show in Las Vegas last month, where they had a huge booth in the South Hall. Love the 60C, especially the speed of the map redraws with its fast processor. This might be the unit that converts me from Magellan.
  5. Found this link from the Pennsylvania State Park site, which seems to be a fair balance between the Park mandate and geocachers: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/geocaching.aspx
  6. I'd like to hear from anyone that knows how this was done: http://www.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx?u...Northwest" Does anyone know how I can incorporate my own userid number to get an inline jpg with my stats?
  7. I had the exact same problem. I think they are using a less-than-reputable rebate company (wheresmyrebate.com) because when I contacted Magellan, they had a designated manager to handle these complaints. She sounded exasperated, but was helpful and got my rebate processed promptly. The cheque was mailed then next day!
  8. I'm pretty sure that the GPS just uses an algorithim to give an approximate location on the block versus actually plotting each property. For example, if one intersection starts at 100 Pine Street and the next intersection is 200 Pine Street, then a request for 130 Pine Street will be 30% of the distance between the two intersections.
  9. One thing I noticed is that the big box retailers are not repricing as the currency improves versus the $USD. For the first time in a long time, it makes more sense to buy electronics south of the border. quote:Originally posted by Minigeocacher!:I personally think so, i went to Future Shop and saw the lowest at $375!!! OUch... thats too much... tell me wut u guys think... -MINIGEOCACHER!!!!!-

Well, it's the weekend, and as far as I can see, nothing is organized as of yet. So I'll get the ball rolling... We've had the last 2 area Pub Nights at the Black Bull Pub (See: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?&ID=39255 ) So I think it's time for something new. Coupar-Angus suggested the Toby Jug (N43 52.367 W79 43.626) which is just down the road. Sounds good to me, we know the where... now for the when. I'm trying to choose from the following dates: Tuesday, July 8th Wednesday July 9th Thursday July 10th Friday July 11th I usually work evenings, but I am free on those nights, so, there are the options... Lets get some feedback from the local cachers so we can decided on a date. TOMTEC I can make any of those nights, so long as they serve Alexander Keith's IPA.
