  1. The owl strung by rope through eyebolts cache is awesome. I have been envisioning a similar concept of a cache myself for a couple years but never made it happen. - good to see that others had the same concept and followed through with it. Nice work!
  2. I too can't wait for favorites points to be included in the GPX pocket querry. And I currently hog the internet bandwidth using the API through GSAK to update a database of caches as it runs one by one and takes seemingly forever. But I just found a slightly better option than that. Same sort of thing, using the API, but only fetching the favorites points information. FrenchGC wrote a GSAK macro called FavCacheCounter.gsk that only pulls the favorites points information through the API. So it runs slightly faster and smoother this way. Here's the link on where to get the macro.... http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=24973&st=0entry187227
  3. [quI am also getting the 500 server error. I have had no success in getting a found-it log to take after many tries even with clicking the back button as suggested might work.
  4. I use the work-around GSAK API download, but definately looking forward to the update to include in pocket querry. The GSAK API refresh workaround consumes a lot of resources that could otherwise be avoided if it were in the pocket querry already. It takes a long time for it to run the update in GSAK API for a big database of caches. Favorites points is the best improvement that geocaching.com made since I've been playing the game. Thanks for keeping focused on this one. When it finally hits the pocket querry output its going to be powerful!
  5. After almost 2 years and 71 found-its someone finally stole my custom cache container. The now archived cache was called "The Bogeyman". A sort of play on words once you see the container. GC1BVGJ "The Bogeyman" And here's some photos that a few of the finders added to their logs...

  11. YES!!!!! Thanks! I had no idea this Waymarking list was out there. It will definately help me build up my giant things bookmark list! Can't wait to see which ones already have a geocache themed around them. And thanks to BlueDeuce for the giant fying pan. I added it to my list. Everyone post more pictures like that with a link to the cache in reference.
  12. I need your help. If you know of any geocaches next to or on giant objects, please let me know about them. Right now I only have about 13 caches bookmarked that I've found or heard about from others. I'm sure there's tons more out there like it. 13. I guess I'm a bit slow. Just now finding this thread. slammer47 here from Dayton (Montgomery County).
  14. GCVYCK "Lane Change" hidden by bennet in Dayton, OHIO, USA. This cache remains #1 on my favorite terrain finds of all-time. Its a 2-stage multi-cache. 1st stage is at the VERY TOP of a double pine tree. 2nd stage is VERY HIGH UP and a very difficult climb.
  15. Amazing! I hope I find some of these in my area. So creative - there is endless possibilities! Great work all of you.
  16. You should check out: "The Magneto Crusher" by ghs Nano caches are PLAIN EVIL and so ghs has created a geocache to distribute nano's to finders in hopes that they will demolish them in creative ways and share their results with photos.
  17. This topic is great. We're going to Disney in December 07 so I will definately be bringing along some waypoints. I was there once when I was really little.

  19. Thanks for the heads up. I missed that conversation and I didn't find it when I tried to search for an already published topic. I must have used the wrong keywords for my search. I posted my comments to the previous topic to continue that thread. Thanks again. -slammer47 previous thread

    Notifications

It would be beneficial to have the option for "note" notifications. Sometime there's after-the-fact discussions that I miss out on because I haven't added a cache to my watchlist. Two examples... 1. On my 300th find a bunch of people were congratulating me by posting "notes" to the cache page I logged my find at. I would have missed most of the talk if I didn't have it already on my watchlist. 2. I submitted a photo on a cache page recently and the owner liked it so much he made it the background and put a "note" on the cache page saying so. I only found this out a few days later by being nosey and revisiting the cache page. Honestly I could live without the email "note" feature, but it would be a great added feature for me. I just like seeing all that goes on after I've been to a cache - including all types of logs (notes). Maybe instead of this "email note feature", instead an option to have any caches I mark as found be automatically added to my watchlist as I find them? Then I can go and remove any ones I no longer wish to receive emails on. I know I can manually add them each time. Just a thought. Or even instead of emails being sent out, instead have an online notifications feature directly on the geocaching site.
  21. Is there a way to get email notifications of "Note" type logs? I have set it up to get about every other type of post (Found, DNF, Publish, Needs Maintenence, etc) but I can't seem to find the notification for type "Note". Thank You, slammer47
  22. Thanks you Starbrand for your response! I overlooked this but now I see it. Great to hear its already available! Yes you can - right hand side about midway down - look for "See the History" in the Inventory area.
  23. You can go to any travel bug page and see the tracking history of all of the geocaches that the travel bug has visited. However you can't go to a geocache page and see the list of all the travel bugs that have ever visited that geocache container. Proposed added feature: It would be excellent to have the compliment of this feature where the geocache page has a link to show all travel bugs that have been logged in at one time or another to that particular geocache container. This proposed feature would be really cool for owners of caches to see all the TB visitors since the geocache was listed. Since the tracking history is already available for one particular travel bug I would think all the data is there to add this feature already. Does anyone else think this would be a good feature addition?
  24. There is one in the Dayton, Ohio area called "Library in the Woods". I haven't visited it *yet* but I think its going well based on the logged finds. GC123Y1 "Library in the Woods" -slammer47
  25. Definately GC11AT5 "No Strength Just Ingenuity 2" by "stevensheri". GC11AT5 No Strength Just Ingenuity 2 Its in a league of its own! The container is on top of about a 50-60 foot cement pillar sign at Wright State University in Fairborn, OH near Dayton, OH. Since there's no way to climb the tower you have to figure a way to get the cache down and even more challenging how to get it back up. Most people do it in groups but I can definately say from experience it can be done solo. Quite the adventure. If you're in the area you need to check this one out. -slammer47
