Nothing received from New York/New Jersey. It appears that the email server on geocaching.com is as blocked as a neglected outhouse in an Alabama cotton field. Wait for the floodgates to open once this gets fixed. Its happened before...

Background images on cache pages?????

Background images on cache pages?????

quote:Originally posted by Alan2: Here's my page to show you what I mean. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=15434 Alan Alan, If I can give you a little advice: I would not use photos as a background image as the tiling effect caused by the BACKGROUND HTML can make the cache page look untity - especially when you scroll up and down the page. What you need is a smooth transition. Have a look here for examples you could use as backgrounds. Using the "fixed" property prevents the background image from annoyingly scrolling up when you scroll the cache page. It is much neater. ....and it is compatible with both IE and Netscape. -
Micro caches in the woods
The Artful Dodger replied to briansnat's topic in General geocaching topics
I, too, avoid micro-caches in forested areas. I avoid them like the plague. A poor man's cache - that's what I say... Yet, there is a need for them in high-traffic areas or urban cache sites. Sure. -

until June when the new 'version' of the V is out to purchase one. They will be unlocking the entire City Select for the whole country as a default. Currently, you can only unlock one region and the City Select has routing for the 300 biggest cities/towns.

Background images on cache pages?????
The Artful Dodger replied to HackAttack's topic in General geocaching topics
I have no desire to keep it a secret If you wish to place a background on your cache pages, insert the following code in the beginning of your cache page description text. the BGPROPERTIES="fixed" prevents the background from scrolling when you scroll up the cache page. A little creativity will enhance your cache page... -

Actually I love his maps. I use them all the time. I give them two thumbs way up for his most informative maps around the USA and world for geocaches. I use them to search out new caches and to find places to place new ones. His maps display all the geocaches out there. Unfortunately, there was one incident where a certain geocacher placed a cache called Lake Lookout at a certain spot only to discover afterwards that there was another cache nearby with the same name! Bux!ey's map omitted the first cache accidentally and this geocacher posted a duplicate! D'oh! Nevertheless, there are people out there that haven't invented geocaching...only perfected a view of it. -

is BrianSnat's excellent Pyramid Mountain Roaming cache Located in North New Jersey. The only difference to the above caches is that the new coordinates are not posted on the cache page but are controlled by an 'anchor' cache that must be seeked out before searching for the moving cache.
