I placed a few mags in a cache of mine that accidentally got wet resulting in soggy, scrappy magazines. Perhaps a jiffy bag might help to prevent the mags from 'disintegrating.' ...but a good idea, nevertheless.

The Rapture of the Deep - Scuba Multicache It hasnt been found yet, but has been recently verified by a friend that it is still there. I cant believe the # of people watching this cache .. I have had two emails from newspapers and one from CNN.com regarding this underwater adventure. I really want someone to find this one soon An amazing statistic (to me, that is) is that my cache page is viewed AT LEAST ONCE EVERYDAY since inception (I have a counter on the page). I dont know where they hear about it but people find it. I have another scuba multicache planned for the Great Barrier Reef in December....working on it.

I wasnt too happy seeing one guy take his bug all over the world racking up miles.. Your idea is a very good compromise.

Currently, one cannot edit entries on the Travel Bug section of the site as we can do with the normal Caches section. I keep a nice running commentary on some of my Bugs and it would be nice to be able to Edit them for spelling errors, HTML code fixes etc. (see Dufus, the Dawg as an example.) I am referring to the Log entries and not the Travel Bug description entry. Thanks

In one case, someone wrote 'Geoterrors was here' in the Logbook and trashed the cache all over the place. ...I guess you will always have people in this world whose parents did a poor job in raising them !!

My E.T The Extra Terrestrial travel bug's goal was to move one state at a time from the East Coast to California. I thought it would take a while. Well, some cool geocacher moved it there in one shot! All I did now, was move the goalposts and now E.T has to go to Florida. Undoubtably, I will keep moving the goal... If you really want to have a entended goal, try and get your travel bug to a foreign destination. My four GeoMonkeys have been trying to leave the country for the last 222 days to make it to New Zealand !! No %@^# Luck!

I have some travel bugs that are bound for AUckland, New Zealand from the USA. Originally it was bound for South Africa until the intended recipient immigrated to NZ. When will they get there....? Who knows! Its so difficult to get bugs to travel overseas. But look out for them...eventually. Cheeky Gus Bayonet Shambock Likewise, if anyone is in the US and is going back to NZ soon, put these dudes on your watchlist. Who knows, they may pop up in your area for pickup. thanks

After pondering on a previous posting I made regarding the inability of some of my bugs to hitch a ride overseas from the USA, I was thinking that we are in need of some good Bug Hotels along the Northeast here. For those you are not familiar with TB hotels, these are caches specifically set up near a airport (usually within walking or short drive distance) where a geocachers can either drop off or pick up a TB if they are flying overseas or wish their TB to be taken abroad. There are hotels at inland airports too for domestic travel. A search on 'hotel' shows a few of them set up in the UK for this purpose. It seems to work well. It would be great to have a hotel near Logan Airport, Boston or Newark, New Jersey or even JFK. A good idea would be to place one of these caches at rest stops or those restaurant rest areas littered on major roads. If anyone is near some of these areas, let us know if you can help out with the creation of the Travel Bug Hotels. One could modify the TB cache page to ask geocachers to place it in XXX hotel for departure. ...anyway, just a thought.....

for Newark and JFK and LaGuardia on the east Coast here as a stepping stone to getting these bugs outta this country and beyond!! I like the idea of rest stops being used along the Interstates...

I have 4 geomonkeys that are trying to get to New Zealand ... Bayonet Cheeky Gus Shambock The hardest part is getting the little dudes to leave the friggin' country!!! Any country overseas will do for now ~ AAAGH!!!! Frustration reigns supreme! (Sorry! Had to vent! )
