  5. I'm in California so I'm just going by the picture above. I would also look under the edge of each piece of paper. Look for (or feel for) a tiny magnetic cache. The cache could be a small as half the size of a thimble. Good luck!
  6. Thank you for your offer! Still available "at this time."
  7. Selling my eTrex Vista Cx and Palm Z22 as a package deal. GPS has Navigator 2008 installed (lower 48 states) and comes WITH the DVD. Also, comes with Trip and Waypoint Manager. Included is a 2GB micro SD installed and protective belt-clip case. Palm unit comes with installation cd and WITH cachemate installed and registered. All set for paperless caching. Both units have instruction booklets included. I'm asking $255.00 which includes shipping to lower 48 states. Shipping elsewhere may add additional charge depending on location.
  8. Thanks! I couldn't figure out how to do a hard reset. Duh, going to the Palm support site kinda helped. Problem solved!
  9. HELP! I just found my son's old Palm Z-22 handheld and I want to use it for paperless caching. (Right now I use my iPAQ 2495, but it's too expensive to risk dropping). Anyway, my son had a password set and he can't remember what it was. We've tried about 50 he usually uses. Is there a way to reset the password during booting (resetting) the handheld? I've got the software and cords, just need to be able to get into this thing. Thanks for any help! Randy
  10. I submitted a pocket query over 1 1/2 hours ago. I still haven't received it. I also tried an alternate e-mail address. I usually get these within 10 minutes. Is something up I don't know about? Showed it as going thru.

    Pocket Querys

is there a problem with the pocket queries at the moment? I submitted one almost an hour ago and haven't received it although it shows it has been generated. Usually receive them within 10 minutes.
  12. I personally apologize. I did not realize I was using potty-mouth language with the asterisk. I "will" be more careful in any future posts.
  13. What I don't understand is why people don't at least log the fact the have found the TB. Also, why not reply to the e-mail to assure the owner their bug is all right. I've just e-mailed the owner of a bug I have because I haven't had time to place it. It's been a couple weeks and I feel guilty!
  14. Sorry, this is actually just a b*tch post. I had my first Geocoin activated and wanted it to tour the east (it was/is the Fort Sumter Civil War Series) coast and actually find its way to Fort Sumter and return. I had a friend of my take it to Texas and the first person there found it and has had it since JULY 31st. I've sent two "very nice" e-mails asking that MY coin continue on its journey. I haven't received any reply and the coin hasn't been placed anywhere else. I even told the person if they needed help, I would assist them in logging it correctly. Has anyone else had their tracking items kidnapped?
  15. I don't know what you want to spend, but I got a eTrex Vist Cx (not HCx) for $203.46 including shipping off Amazon. It works great. Easy to d/l pocket queries and the electronic compass DOES help at times. It isn't high-sensitivity, but I don't need it. With my pocket pc, I go paperless and enjoy every minute of it.
  16. Thanks BD, that did the trick!!!
  17. I feel for asking this, but, how do you add pictures to a travel bug page?

    hints

I used to highlite the required information and paste it into a Word document. Had Cache name, coordinates, description, and decoded hint if any. I would print 2-4 on each sheet of paper and color code them in relation to each other for caching sequence. I have since gone to paperless with my pocket pc......................
  19. If your "preacher" is truly a man of God and speaking Scripture (and not twisting it to meet some agenda), Sundays are a great time of receiving the Word and Worship. My family and I currently go to the Sunday evening service at our church and our Worship is fantastic. Then, our pastor speaks Truth and will challenge those (based on the Scriptures) who do not want to live up to expectations. Christians are geocachers too! However, I believe there should not be ANY paper items in a cache. I thought the purpose of puting little trinklets and things was to add extra "enjoyment" to the caching experience.
  20. I have a HP iPAQ and use GPXSonar to transfer the data. Works great for me!
  21. As Miragee said, build a pocket query. Then, if your GPSr supports it, you can enter the generated file directly into your unit. When you are out caching, you can then set your GPSr to locate nearest and there you go. After finding it, you will automatically be sent to your next cache. Of course, this is IF your unit supports downloads.
  22. This is usually the result of not having drivers installed, specifically the USB drivers. Check it out.
  23. Go to the Garmin site and check out the unit you got versus their other ones. (Not sure if you have the yellow basic, or the eTrex H, or the blue legend. Then, go to amazon.com to check their prices. I got an eTrex Vista Cx for $203 delivered. ....but for basic geocaching, you chould be okay, but you most likely will have to manually input coordinates. Gets old after a couple outings. I know, I resold my two and got the Vista.
