  1. Garmin Oregon and Colorado both with backlight on high. Both also have the same screen protector installed.
  2. The Oregon’s seem to have issues receiving wass satellites signal. However, it does appear Garmin is working on it see this link.
  3. The latest update also addresses this issue.
  4. The only way I fixed it was to turn the gps off then back on. My gps software has since been updated to 2.8/2.58 but I have not had a chance to test my gps with the new update because I only experienced my gps "going off on one" after driving for a large amount of time (at least 2 hours). Hopefully I will get a chance to get out of the house and give it a try this weekend.
  5. Was it anything like this: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3726327
  6. The venture Hc is offically sold. Still waiting on the Explorist.
  7. Sale of both units pending! Will post when offically sold.
  8. Both are in perfect working order! They were my wife's gpsr, but are no longer need as she has upgraded to the Colorado. The Venture HC screen is scratch free and show signs of very little use. It does have three "x's" etched into the back of the gps so I don't no if it was refurbished at one time. I purchased it from the bargain cave at Cabalas so they could be there to keep it from being sold as new. Also includes the usb cable. Currently running the latest software versions 2.9/2.8. Any other specs or information can be found at Garmin website. The Magellan explorist works great. The screen does have scratches on it that are visible when looking at the display, but the screen is still plenty readable. The scratches are not really visible in the picture but I did highlight the areas where they are - I don't really think there are a big deal just trying to give the best description. The usb cable for the explorist is included as well. Running software version 5.2.57 Asking $65.00 for the Garmin Venture plus $10.00 shipping. Asking $50.00 for the Magellan explorist plus $10.00 shipping. I can accept paypal.
  9. what does the lock on roads feature do? the problem im having is the the pointer doesnt turn when i turn and the north needle on the map points south.... i tried shutting the unit off and turning it back on it worked for a while then did it again does anyone have problems with the gps in cold weather? The lock on road feature will "rubber band" you to the nearest road. I always left mine off, and the gps would still auto route just fine. Another thing, you want make sure you are navigating to the geocache (while on foot) with the "off road" route calculation feature .
  10. My Oregon had the same stickers on them. The only problem was one side had the 14 day return and the other had 30 day return policy.
  11. You need to delete some of your old gpx files that are located on your Oregon. They are located in the folder called "GPX" on the internal memory of the Oregon. Since you are a premium member it might be better to download PQ which can contain up to 500 geocaches in a single gpx file, however, there is limit of having 2000 geocaches loaded at once. Hope this helps!
  12. Goto Setup > Geocaches > Found Geocaches Then enter in your geocache count!
  13. Did this happen with 2.6/2.55 or a different verison of the software?
  14. Indeed I did not lose satellite lock accord to my gps. However, there are other indication that my gps did loose reception or at least stop collecting data from the satellites: -Satellite strength remained the same regardless of orientation. Covering the gps with my hand I would expect to see a decrease in sat. signal strength. -My gps speed remained the same, down the nearest tenth of a mile(this also why my location was still changing on the gps). -The bearing remained exactly the same on the compass page.
  15. That exactaly what the gps did, only I had to turn the gps off and then back on to get to resume like normal again.
  16. Here are some Mapsoure photos close up at the times the "drift" (only calling it drift for lack of a better term) started. After review the track logs in Mapsource, I noticed all three times the drift start after going under an overpass on the interstate. Track log data points also do not exist for the extend of the drift. My green track represent going from Minneapolis to Chicago, the red track is the trip home. Going under bridge1 Going under bridge2 Going under bridge3 The big picture to show the drift was most likly not going to correct itself.
  17. Was the location on the satellite page updating? Yes, however, the satellite strength never changed (almost like it was in simulator mode) What does the track log look like just before and after you power cycled? Before power cycled - my track log was static, meaning same bearing and speed. After power cycled - the track log was dynamic - my speed and bearing were changing. Do you see your position way off course and then a jump back to the right spot? No, I-94 is my real location. Here is one more picture show the instance that my bearing and speed remain static. Before this happened my track log is following I-94 perfectly.
  18. First, it is not multi-path, I am out on the interstate (clear view of the sky). And to be clear what is happing my gps is telling me that my speed, bearing, are staying the same. The result is a perfectly straight track line shown under the "lost gps photo". --Sorry for the confusion. Running latest versions of the software 2.6/2.55
  19. After using my Oregon to navigate on a 400 mile trip from Minneapolis to Chicago it started to show some strange behavior. If anybody has ever driven through a tunnel with their gps, long enough so that it will lose signal, you should see that it will "project where you are". In other words if at the moment the gps lost (because of the tunnel) and you were moving North at 35 mph, the gps would continue update your position as though you were still moving at that course and speed until it received signal again. On the way to Chicago my Oregon exhibited this behavior once, and the way Home twice, only problem the gps did not loose signal. Simply turning the Oregon off and on again made it work again. The third time this happened I noticed that even though according the gps it had good signal. However, the signal strength would never fluctuate, even if the gps was covered with my hand, almost like it was in simulator mode! The pictures say what happend better that I can! Any thoughts? "Lost GPS" After restarting the gps Signal Strength while covered
  20. Loaded new PQ onto my oregon and no screen fade!! Hopefully this is fixed.
  21. I had that same problem with my 300, and a hard reset did fix the problem.
  22. Is there a way to view archived tracks on the Colorado? I was trying to look at my tracks from geocaching today only to realize there were only a few random track points in my yard. All of the track data from the day had been archive on the Colorado, with no way to view it, except with the help on the computer. Sure am glad I was not relying on using my track to find my way back!
