  1. I can assume that by it being "grayed out" that you are under : setup>main menu. Just simply touch sight 'n go icon and then the garbage can at the bottom, it should now be visible on you main page.
  2. Even if you deleted the topo map and it was somehow still there, you should still have room on your garmin drive. Does the drive really have every last byte used up?
  3. If your transferring maps from mapsource their is no need for a GMAPSUPP.UNL file. But if you can view the maps in mapsource that does mean they are unlocked, but they must be unlocked to your oregon. If you originally loaded city navigator into a different gps, you will need to purchase another unlock code from garmin.
  4. I didn't know there were firmware updates. Is this it: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4397 Here is the latest beta for the orgeon (3.42/3.7): 3.42 Beta Download It seems to be pretty stable, however, if you do not feel comfortable with a beta you and download garmin webupdater and it will update the software on your oregon for you. Webupdater After the install you should have 3.40/3.7 installed on your gps.
  5. Apparently... as there is NO WAY a single PQ could 'fill up your memory', even on the cheapest Oregon or Dakota unit. They are only a few megabytes and the unit has hundreds of MB. You could store 100 PQs and be fine (though the unit can only ever show you 2000 caches) What do you mean by 'filled up all of my memory'? What is telling you this? You must have other things on the Oregon SD card filling up the space. Well, I'm not sure if it's one or two queries. One seems to work, but I'd place a second PQ, such as the Seattle area, into the GPS, and the GPS would say "Memory Full" when turned on. After it loaded, none of the caches would show on the map and the "find a cache" list would say "no caches," even though there are two PQ .GPX files in the .GPX folder. I did recently figure out how to place images into the GPS, so there are three pictures of my dog in there. Is that taking up all the memory? The "memory full" error sounds like one that was fixed with a firmware update long ago, have you ran the web updater the make sure you have the latest firmware version. If it really is a "memory full" error you can always place the gpx files on the micro sd card, just make sure to place them in the right directory, such as: D:\garmin\gpx Your oregon should be able to hold at least 4 PQ (set at 500 caches each), which would take you to the 2000 geocache limit.
  6. I have seen that behavior on my oregon before, had to do something with loading tracks from mapsource. How are you getting the tracks into you Dakota?
  7. I have seen it on my 400t. It seems to want to jump back and fourth to your location and the nearest road (lock on road is off). It happens a lot more in demo mode.
  8. Oh and I also want the waypoint list icons on the x00 as well... I second that!!
  9. I haven't seen any performance delays with my oregon in cold temps. Even tried again today with temps in the teens, both my colorado and oregon's display worked the same as at room temperature. The only time I have seen screen issues in the cold was with my older black and white gpsr.
  10. Have you tried updated to the latest firmware? I know there were having a lot of problems displaying the cache description correctly. As for it displaying a link instead of a picture in the description that’s normal operation, the picture information is not contained in the gpx file.
  11. New Version for the Colorado: Colorado 300 Update Colorado 400t Changes made from version 3.00 to 3.10: •Added support for Garmin Custom Maps •Improved along road routing performance •Improved map panning and zooming Loaded and it atleast looks like the pink track problem is fixed.
  12. On the internal drive? I thought I had only about 73mb of space, not enough for a 1+gb map. You can always buy a SD card to expand the units memory.
  13. It's easy. Just use the frickin' %$@^ and then load the frickin' @(&^% and you can go frickin' Geo&%*dadgum-caching!
  14. As stated earlier, if you register, you can get your unlock codes from Garmin at any time directly from their servers. If you lose the CDs, the emails, the codes, and have not registered, how is Garmin supposed to know you actually own the software?? Funny, my Verson 4 of MN Lakemaster software that was unlocked to my Etrex Legend C, is nowhere to be found under the list of my registered devices, neither is my emap, come to think of it neither is my 76s. What gives or do we need to keep re-registering them?
  15. And then burn another copy of the copy and then maybe one more just to be sure. I personally take all my unlock codes and CDs and store then in a bank safe deposit box . Funny how 100% of the responsibility for management of the unlock codes should be placed on the consumer when it IS Garmins policy.
  16. Well no idea why but I renamed the maps to something more simple and made the CN map the default gmapsupp.img and now it works fine with the 8gb card... How many different maps can you have on the card and the unit recognize them all? Right now I have 3 on the card and the basemap all showing active so its seeing them all just curious what the limit is if there is one. You need to have version 3.0 or greater software loaded on the Colorado for you to have custom named .img files.
  17. It has the latest upgrade, fresh batteries, clear sky ,at least six sats with max bar strength, waas enabled and if I sit real still for a full five minutes I get maybe 25 ft accuracy! I may purchase an external plug in attenna to see if it helps. As for the name if you say correctly (foo cow weee) they are none the wiser
  18. I have been getting crashes as well while doing a lot of panning and zoom, gps will randomly shut down.
  19. The real challenge in using a tool like this is finding good sources of data...there's lots out there, but it can be elusive. For Minnesota, try here: http://www.lmic.state.mn.us/chouse/airphoto/index.html Thanks, the aerial imagery is great!!
  20. How are you guys getting those nice looking color aerial imagery, all I can find are black and white.
  21. Every time you manually download a geocache it creates its own gpx file, the Oregon has a limit of 2000 geocaches or (something like) 128 separate gpx files which ever comes first --- so I suspect your running in the max gpx file limit. Instead of manually installing geocaches run a PQ and put that file in your GPX labeled folder on your Oregon, that way you get up 500 geocaches per gpx file. You can also check out http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/ for more information.
