  1. I've got a Magellan SporTrac Map that I used when I started Geocaching 01/03 and a Garmin GPSMAP60CS that I got 05/04.
  2. Does anybody remember me? I don't think I've posted here for at least a year. Funny how work can take up all your free time. I was unemployed for most of my finds. I've lost interest in going out by myself. I would gladly resume if I could find a good "cache-buddy". I started caching in 01/03.
  3. I got NetStumbler downloaded, but aren't sure which JiGLE file to download, Java or Windows. I'm running XP.
  4. A lot of time, LE overreacts, but imagine this headline: We also had a recent bomb squad call for a magnetic key holder on a blue USPS mailbox. Those mailboxes (and even the one outside your house, that YOU paid for) are Federal property. Thank God the local deputy was a geocacher and diffused the situation (no pun intended), but the Postal Inspector was NOT amused! Of course it didn't help that the "suspicious person" (one of our members) looks a lot like Ted Kazynski! What, they thought it was a mini bomb?
  5. Yep, I did 20 years in the Navy as a communications Electronics Technician.. My 1st ship was USS Tarawa, LHA-1 (The Eagle of the Sea). It was homeported in San Diego, CA. We deployed on WESPAC and also crossed the Indian Ocean (during the (Iran hostage crisis in 1980). Yes, I'm a trusty Shellback. After SATCOM school at Ft. Gordon, GA, I was stationed at the NATO base in Oslo, Norway. (Ja, jeg snakker litt Norsk). From there to USS Simon Lake, AS-33 in Holy Loch, Scotland. Calibration school in Denver, CO and on to the Sub Base in Groton, CT. Then to my last duty station in sunny Sigonella, Sicily, Italy. If any of you Squids (or ex-squids) were ever stationed any of those places, feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
  6. Mine works fine. It's a Logitech cordless, optical on my HP laptop running XP SP2.
  7. In my new car (Dodge Magnum RT), I hung my GPSer from the mirror by it's strap while it was connected by USB cable to my laptop (which my kid was holding). We were running nRoute and we never once lost the signal. I guess having a glass sunroof helps a bit.
  8. Well, I got it to create a query of my found caches, but it's not being e-mailed to me.
  9. This is the message I get when I try to run a query asking for my found caches and my owned caches. "Your Pocket Query had no results. If you believe you should have received a result to your query, please review your Pocket Query for errors." What am I doing wrong?
  10. How do I get Pocket Queries to list my found caches and my placed? I tried a coulple that asked for that, but it said it didn't generate anything. I'm getting frustrated. I just spent $50 ($30 Groundspeak, $20 GSAK) and I'm not getting the results I had on my old PC when everything was unregistered. Any clues? thanks,
  11. Groundspeak said it had no results. It seems Pocket Queries are not user friendly. It doesn't seem like it's worth $30 a year.
  12. I very recently registered GSAK, Cachemate, and became a Premium Member. I did a few Pocket Queries, but only 2 of my caches show up as mine and none of my found show up. Any ideas? thanks,
  13. What do you mean, cables won't connect to it? I just bought a new T5 when Fry's had their Thanksgiving sale (saved $51). I can use Cachmate with it , right? It Hotsyncs just fine with my HP laptop.
  14. So far I've only had to remove it once and it did seem very snug. I think it's maybe because it's so small it just seems more difficult to remove than it actually is.
  15. Well, I got my Gilsson antenna and cigarette lighter adapter today; exactly as advertised. I never saw the strength bars so tall before! I'm really pleased. Even though I ordered from GPSGEEK.COM; the package came from Gilsson.
  16. To change the km reading to miles, go to tools, options, then on the general tab, on the right hand side, there is the option of 'distance calculation'. As far as excluding caches you own, Are you sure that there weren't already caches that you own in the database prior to importing your GPX file? Unless you tell GSAK to, it won't blank out existing data, but rather will update old info with new. If you want to filter out caches you own, you can go to the search menu, and then to filter and set up the filter criteria there. Thanks, I had a lot on my plate today and missed it. I had looked at that earlier and just didn't notice it. This was a brand new install of GSAK (newly registered) and my first Pocket query also newly registered). My caches were definitely not there before I imported the pocket query.
  17. I just got my reg # from Clyde and it must have been the middle of thr night there. That's dedication! Thanks. I imported a pocket query and I had used Km and now GSAK shos KM.. Can I change it to Miles? Also ( this may be a Groundspeak issue) I asked for it to exclude caches that I own, but it didn't.
  18. I have used Paypal for several years, without any problem. It's connected to my Mastercard (Eurocard). Fungerer som hakka møkk I finally signed up for it. I found a great deal at GPSgeek.com as long as they send the right stuff.
  19. You have to do it every time you change the batteries.
  20. Thanks, I may just do it so I can become a premium member and avoid mailing a personal check.
  21. you’ll be happy here: pfranc happy hunting from hamburg. That is the coolest site I have seen in a long time. Looks like a great buch of folks. Dankeschoen. Did I spell that right?
  22. I went on their site and they said they had stopped selling direct. I tried a couple of their dealers, but they either used Paypal (which I refuse to use unless I hear something positive about them.) or I coulndn't find it on their site. Very frustrating to have the credit card info all ready, had the items in the cart, and it wanted me to register for Paypal. Not even. ! tusen takk allikevel, min Norske venn.
