  1. Thankyou. He is now cast free and bathing without bags (We had to use trash bags - the casts went from his fingers to his shoulders).
  2. Here's an example of how real life can get in the way. A couple of months ago we retrieved a TB from a cache, a few days later my son broke both of his arms, needless to say that put a stop to caching for a while. The TB is safe and sound and we're getting ready to drop it again very shortly, but I have to say that contacting the owner of the TB was not very high on my list of priorities. If that earns me a bad reputation oh well.
  3. The latex gloves are a signature item from bones1 who, I believe, is from the Hemel Hemstead area. Personally, I think they're a great idea - I now carry a pair in my caching bag with me (not, I hasten to add, a pair I've taken from a cache), as they're invaluable when it comes to poking your fingers in yucky places to retrieve a cache They're also great for CITO. The second cache we ever found had a note about CITO in the description and when we found the cache there was a little CITO kit in there with a rubbish bag, latex gloves and an explanation about CITO. I thought that was a great idea.
  4. When you walk through a storm, Hold your head up high, And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm, There's a golden sky, And the sweet silver song of a lark. Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown.. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone....... You'll never walk alone. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone....... You'll never walk alone. (Not that I'm thinking about the match tonight or anything)
  5. Young children not always the best disguise. Mine quite frequently shout at the top of their lungs "I've found it! or "Did you find the cache yet Mum?"
  6. I suspect your idea of scorchio and my idea of scorchio are probably quite different!
  7. Thanks for all of the reccomendations. I've been checking some of them out. Also trying to come to terms with caching in the rain!
  8. aww now you're making me quite homesick
  9. I trawled a few of the flat earth websites in the hope of coming up with a witty reply but there was none to be had. That in itself is quite humourous.
  10. Oh God you wouldn't believe how many times I've been asked how we celebrate the 4th of July in England!
  11. You're not one of those "the world is flat" people are you?
  12. Will my American GPS device work in the U.K???? That might be an incredibly stupid question but I learnt the hard way about mobile phones, televisons, DVDs etc.
  13. Ok Here's the deal. I currently live in the US (Georgia) but I will be going "home" to Bolton for a month next week and I'm looking for some geocaches to do when we're there. When I put my parents post code into the search I get hundreds of caches but I don't have time to read through all the descriptions and pick out the ones that sound best so I'm hoping you'll share some of your favourites/ must finds with me. Here's a little background. It's me, my hubby (American, history buff), 3 kids (11, 5, 3) and assorted British family members who are waiting for us to introduce them to Geocaching. We're relative newbies - have only been caching since January of this year. We're open to all types of caches - traditional, micro, mystery, virtual and multis but preferably ones we can do with the kids (no 9 mile hikes please! made that mistake already ) Also I have a travel bug who's goal is to get to Manchester (and drink lots of pints along the way) so can anyone recommend a cache in the Manchester/Bolton area that gets LOTS of traffic. TIA Jo
