  1. DL'ed the pics to geocaching and now the links should work I didn't bother fixing the inline images. It's my understanding that the folks in Hickory had some help from the BR group.

  3. The GPSr worked fine. It didn't really use it in the maze though. The scale of the maze, combined with the fact that I only had a paper drawing of the maze, renedered it mostly useless. I just left it on to see what my track log would look like. BTW - are you seeing the images? For some reason they're not displaying for me now I linked them from Geocities. I emailed Jamie the coordinates to my house and he arrived right around 8:30 last night. Nice guy. We (he) logged into the chat last night and we shot the bull for a while. Had a good time. I'm anxious to see how many he can nab.

  10. Sounds like a lot of fun. The most I've paddled was a three day trip on the Black Creek in Mississippi. It was hot, but it was a blast. I've still got my beast of a Grumman on the roof of my Xterra from yesterday's cache placement: Cane Island. I got home late and didn't want to mess with it. Had somewhat of a close enounter of the gatory-kind. Now that was exciting!

  12. If you don't mind a coffee table that has seen better years, I'm your man. I just bought a replacement and now have an extra waiting for you. Some selling points: Great for eating in front of the TV Lots of space to work on design projects (I've got an ME degree, so I understand) Lots of surface area to hold general clutter Spilling beer on it wont make it look any worse Kidding aside, it's a very sturdy table, just a bit worn. Roughly 5'x 2'x 2' high. If you want it, it's yours. Otherwise it's going on the curb (it'll be gone before daybreak )

  14. Never really thought about it before. I know from working in the oil patch that all of our local indicators (pressure, temperature gages, etc.) are filled with glycerin. Pretty harmless stuff. I would agree with mtnsteve that leaking is not normal. You might consider returning it or buying a different (better?) compass. R

  16. Did they also bet you a dollar that they could tell you "where you got dem shoes?" (you got em right dere) or what year you graduated high school? (your senior year) Somebody fed you a line. The other side of Canal is the Central Business District, or CBD. As New Orleans becomes more and more dependant on the tourist industry (read: as businesses leave), hotels have been slowly moving into the CBD and renovating alot of older buildings.

  18. quote:I would follow my GPS to the gates of Hell if it pointed that way. If you stayed on Bourbon Street, you'd be close. Actually, Bourbon Street can be quite fun, as I'm sure some of my fellow LA Geocachers can attest. I've never been there for Halloween, but I've heard stories . Keep us informed of your plans. I like the idea of a haunted cache hunt. Could be interesting!

  20. This local cache was recently archived: Seafood Cache of the Day. The cookbook. I know at least one recipe is good

I'm not much of a social person (are any geocachers?) but I've found that I really enjoyed the two group rides I've participated in. Unfortunately, nearly all group rides are during the weekend, when I work. Jamie They are a lot of fun. And more of a social event than I thought they would be. Russell

Well, if I ever get off the computer tonight I may get my gear packed. I'm headed to Pisgah NF tomorrow after work. May try to hit GSMNP one day this weekend. Looking forward to some caches, some singletrack, and a few waterfalls.
