  1. Great job on the TBugs guys. I had one problem that has arisen with the title on the bugs page. I have a few 'sets' of bugs out there. One set has five bugs involved in a quest. It is the 'Holy Grail' (TB8D73) set. When I created them I used some html codes to have all the names show up in the color gold. This really worked well as it grouped all those bugs together on my travel bug page. I used this on three other sets as well, all with different colors, which groups them nicely on the page. The problem is that on the new bug page the html codes are visable and I can't seem to edit it without losing the color in the title. Thanks in advance for your help with this. T H EDGE
  2. I'm sorry you feel that way Bons. Although I think you're overreacting, I hate to see you deprive yourself of one of, IMHO, the most enjoyable aspects of caching. But I guess you're right....if the pressure of handling someone elses creative idea, in the form of a TBug, and their wishes regarding that idea, is going to cause you angst then they are best left alone. Happy Holidays and Happy Caching .... in what ever form you enjoy both. T H EDGE
  3. We're not talking about holding a bug for a month or two. One of mine has been held since last MARCH. I've emailed the guy who picked him up and haven't even gotten the curtesy of a reply. Meanwhile he is still active logging caches and picking up other TBugs. As for 'enforcing travel bug rules,' I don't think that's what we're asking here. Most people realize that TBugs are put out to travel, and to visit many caches, or have a particular goal. The vast number of cachers are happy to help these bugs along and do so in a timely manner and if possible in accordance with the owners wishes. It's the knuckleheads who purposely hold onto a bug for no apparent reason for months, who take it home and throw it in a draw and, for reasons known only to them say screw it and let it languish for 9-10 months, or 'for eternity.'. As for 'obeying the every whim of the tb owner,' that's not really what we're talking about either. Many TBugs have a goal. I would think it common curtesy that if you pick one up that has a goal, you attempt to help it towards that end. Doesn't sound too demanding to me. And Bons ...as for leaving a TBug in a cache 'for eternity.' If your the kinda of guy who is going to pick up a bug 'out of the goodness of your heart,' yet hold onto it 'for eternity,' then do me a favor and if you come across one of mine just leave it in the cache. It has a better chance of getting moved along there then sitting in a draw at your house.
  4. Thanks for the info Walruz. It looks like this guy is a loner. As for the 'active date,' I mistakingly thought it referred to the last time the person 'logged in.' Maybe you, or someone else, can answer this question as well...Do, or can, 'the powers that be' do anything about these bugnappers?
  5. Good idea Chazman. I've had one missing from Fort Christmas cache since April or May, I never thought of renaming it. I finally went out today and grabbed it. I also grabbed a couple of my other Tbugs that have been missing from caches for quite some time now. I also grabbed a couple back from people (I won't call them cachers) who have either given up the sport or just like to kidnap TBugs. Unfortunately there are such knuckleheads out there. I wish we, as bug owners, had a way of re-issuing a bug, (some of the ones I grabbed today have some significant mileage) using the copy tag. Unfortunately if the knucklehead bugnapper still has the original he will still be able to screw with it. Or it would be great if TPTB could find a way that the owner of the bug could transfer a bugs previous travels to a completely new tag. That way the scoundrel would not have access to it, and the old tag could be retired. Just my 2 cents on a frustrating caching problem. I don't read the forums all that often so if these situations have been previously discussed or corrected please let me know. T H EDGE
  6. My Tbug, Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid, was picked up back in March and is still being held by the same guy. The guy has stats of 22 caches and 22 Tbugs. I'm not sure if he is holding onto all 22 or just mine. According to his profile page he is still active as of 12/13/03. I have emailed him several times to no avail. This is not the first Tbug of mine to go missing or inactive, and it can be frustrating, but that's life and there's no accounting for knucleheads. It's unfortunate because Butch and Sundance are one half of a pair of Tbugs. The other half is TBug "Joe Lefors Posse Leader" who was chasing them. I'd like to put a new Butch and Sundance bug out using the "Copy" tag but it would seem that as long as this guy has the number he could still mess with the copy. The only solution I can think of is to put them out with an entirely new Tbug tag. Any other suggestions?
  7. I, among others, also miss Dan's site. I enjoyed watching names from my area, including mine, as they moved up and down the list. As for it making the sport competitive...I must admit that I enjoyed moving up the page more than moving down, but it didn't make me run out and pile up a bunch of 1/1 caches to move back up and pass someone. Do people do that? Probably. Let's face it this thing isn't perfect. But I think this is one case where having more options should cause less controversy, and having less will cause more. 8. Yes MikeP I am getting the same message. Also, I disagree with a previous post about his site being "useless." Personally, I enjoy it, even if I have update it sometimes. It's not difficult to do. "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  9. I've tried deleting most of these messages but I get an error message saying that the forum does not allow deleting of messages. Very strange. "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  10. Hi Mark 42, I was going to delete the whole thread, but then thought it might be of use to someone else trying to do a tagline. But I will delete if you think it's too much. Can you answer the question as to why the HTML doesn't appear until I click on the edit icon? Let me know if you want to delete. Thanks T H EDGE "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  11. That did it! So I guess I'll have to post then edit! "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  12. Now it appears that it wasn't the addition of the graemlins, but the act of clicking on the edit delete feature! "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  13. SON OF A ....... "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  14. Guess I'll just have to put Instant Graemlins in any posts! <img src="http://royburker.members.easyspace.com/who.gif">"Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  15. Unbelieveable! When I put the smiley faces in the HTML started working! Now I have to go back and replace the HTML! "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  16. Guess I'll go without the HTML... "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."
  17. One more try. "Do What You Can, Where You Are, With What You Have."

  23. Just seeing if I have it right.
  24. Hi Crow T Robot...thanks for the good news...I'm not sure if you rememeber me. I had the cache out on Merritt Island Preserve and the Fish and Wildlife guys removed it. Have you made any headway with the National Wildlife Preserve people? T H EDGE
  25. I like the metal tags for durability. Here in Florida we've lost several caches to fires, controled burns and natural ones. One of my bugs melted down pretty good, but the metal tag was still readable so it was able to be put back in circulation. As far as the connectors...I use different types, zip ties, key rings etc., depending on what I'm attaching the tag to. I don't care for the chains that come with the TBugs. I like the instruction tag idea. I would like to have a "copy" tag as well, but without the word "copy" on it, so it could use be used to re-issue a bug that goes missing or is destroyed. How about this....one original metal tag, and two plastic tags, a "copy" and an "intructions." Keep the chain and leave the connectors to us. We can figure it out.
