  1. Wow and yes as an owner of ECs I have seen answers like this and yes I do delete logs after a specific time. What I will not do is delete the log if it is wrong. For me as an owner and a finder is that I visited the site and I learned something and/or that I tried..It's all about the learning and experience. If some cachers don't get that then that is their loss. For me there are no wrong answers only no answers...
  2. One more question: Where does it say that you cannot look for an unpublished cache? I am just confused about where they pulled these fictional rules/guidelines from. I have gone over everything and found nothing even pertaining to it...
  3. Recently while geocaching an area I happened upon a cache hide that had not yet been published and there fore proceeded to find two others in obvious spots. These caches were not marked as geocaches, no name, no GC#, no indication of what, who, etc.(against guidelines) I also actively looked for them when the series was published while I was in the area and found another of the series that had not yet been published. There also seems to be a problem with finding a published cache without the use of a GPS. The following comments have been published on some of these caches: " However actively searching for caches prior to publication without the use of a GPS does not comply with geocaching 101 fundamental rules nor is it in the spirit of the game. " " we didn't need to use a gps to make the find. We know it is against Groundspeak guidelines which state we must use one" So although I know that I will get thrashed for actively pursuing a cache before publication and logging the find, that does not bother me in the least. However, my questions/queries are: Where does it say that you cannot log a find on an unpublished cache? Where does it say that a GPS is mandatory? One more question: Where does it say that you cannot look for an unpublished cache? I am just confused about where they pulled these fictional rules/guidelines from. I have gone over everything and found nothing even pertaining to it.
  4. We are from BC Canada and enroute to another destination. We are laying over for 4 days and we will be in Dallas/Forth Worth Feb 16 - 19 and planning on grabbing 4 states. North to Ardmore OK, East to Texarkana (via OK), South to Shreveport LA, and West to Arlington TX Was wondering what notable caches are a must do. We really like Earthcaches and Virtuals and will definitely be grabbing Tombstone in Arlington.
  5. Yeah that happens in my area all the time...apparently I am a "BADDDDD" person...
  6. I never bother with looking at the physical logs....seems kinda over the top to me. The only time I might check is if a cacher logged the cache in two different countries on the same day... Hey I've done that!!! It is possible...lol On another note I put all my cache logs in little baggies if possible. since I don't have any nanos it is not a problem for me.
  7. A couple more from caching in Saskatchewan that I had to ask about... MIST - Micro in Spruce Tree AMIAT - Another Micro in a Tree
  8. Most caches are 15 - 20 k's from my home base but at the end of July a bunch were published along a logging road not far from me. I purposely did not go out for the FTF's as I knew that this challenge was coming up. So now I mix up some walks in areas I have been to before that have some new caches in with some drive up PT's on the odd day with just getting on the motorbike and puttering out to the ones close to home and grabbing just one right after morning coffee. So far it's been working great.
  9. I would grab the TB and log it and move it..just in case it gets left there
  10. Seriously doubted it was either of those as they cant generally climb trees I also live on Vancouver Island and if you keep your eyes and ears open you would be surprised just how many times you see bears and yes, even cougars. Although the latter is generally watching you but not making any noise. I myself have had numerous encounters with bears and have seen several cougars over the years but with only one close up. Knife? Don't knock it. There was an incident on the north end of the island where a guy managed to pull his penknife out of his pocket and do severe damage to a cougar before getting away and going for medical help Vancouver Island is actually very large and has several cities on it. Lots of public land...Firearms should not be concealed and handguns are not permitted to be carried unless you are a police officer or a conservation/fisheries officer. Firearms inside of any incorporated area or park is not allowed. I would hope that the OP contacted the authorities since said park is within city limits and could potentially be a concern. On that note there is a major deer population there
  11. Try reading all the threads regarding this issue.. Especially the one right above yours >.. cheers

  14. I would be glad to help..Maybe even take you on a tour if the day is right!!
  15. Thanks for all the info...never know what is what in areas one is not familiar with and frankly the desrt areas can be intimidating...Will look up stuff and hope to run into a few cachers down there... Kathy
  16. Hi there, I am going to be in LV for a few days. Have rented a car and plan on getting out for some earthcaches, spend the day driving out of the city...will be seeing the Hoover Damm and heading up towards UTAH for some earthcaches . Just want to be aware of any dangers I should watch out for. No little critters here in BC that we worry about too much but I know there are some different ones there. Will be doing the strip of course but anything you can tell me or guide me too would be great. have a few trackables that I am bringing . what are some safe caches to put them in. hike n'bike AKA Kathy Campbell River, BC
  17. Yes it is hilarious....and a great start to my day this morning....whew ... glad to see everything's the same
  18. I just happened to notice that we have a new reviewer here in BC... June 20 by onecrazycanadian (0 found) Published Was wondering what was up...Have we overworked mtn-man? Does he need a break from us crazy cachers? And how does one get the job?
  19. Perhaps if they had emailed me and told me their intentions then I wouldn't feel like they are holding the coin hostage. Seriously I have had trackables go missing becasue soeone has held onto it to long and lost it. Exactly ...let others see it and share it also... I guess it would never occur to me to hang onto a trackable in such a manner that I am a little perplexed as to why someone else would. I personally try not to hang onto any for very long but to drop them in another cache ASAP.. I will let it play out for awhile and see if they are going to travel forever.... Thanx
  20. Just need some input here on a situation that I have noticed regarding one of my coins. It seems that it was picked up more than a month ago and the cacher who has it in their possesion is dipping it in caches for mileage as they travel rather than leaving it there. It has now been dipped several times. I have noticed that this cacher is doing the same thing to at least six other trackables. I will state right now that this practice bothers me and I don't know how to politely ask that they drop the coin off and stop carrying it with them. Any suggestions?
  21. Try reading the front page...copied at 18:44 PST There are 492001 active caches worldwide. In the last 7 days, there have been 195531 new logs written by 31364 account holders. And that is just those who cached in the last week!! FOUR!!
  22. IMHO Ah one of those......... as a TB owner I find if frustrating not knowing where my trackable is or how it got to a cache...by not logging your finds you are contributing to the "missing TB" syndrome that seems so prevelant.... So feel free not to log your cache finds..after all they aren't going anywhere...but trackables are....
