  1. Thanks for the input. Chris
  2. I have a beautiful new Search High and Low geocoin from oakcoins but the icon shows a broken link. Oakcoins says they have already given the icons to GC.com. Any thoughts or similar problems? reference # TB1HTZB Chris
  3. I think the point of thid thread has been completely lost in hypothetical situations as there are plenty of valid reasons to go visit your own cache ... I think that is not the point in question ... I think that the OP said something like "raiding your own cache sucks" and a bunch of people twisted it until I had to go back to the original post to even figure out what it was about and so therefore I have written a giant run on sentence to point out the absudity of the continuation of this conversation. Muwahahaha. Chris
  4. I don't care if you sign the log on my caches or not. If you found it, log it online. Heck, lie if you want to and say you found it when you didn't for all I care, it doesn't hurt me any. Have fun and go find some caches. Chris
  5. Easy there Roddy! To paraphrase, I said "I won't ... to each their own" I think your ? key is sticking. Chris
  6. Precisely what I thought. Is there a reason to not log finds as finds? Chris Edit ... I looked at your profile ... now I understand! Good luck to you!
  7. I'm with the OP on this one. I don't expect I'll run out to my caches to grab things I want ... just doesn't seem right. I place my caches for the enjoyment of others, what fun is that if I'm going to go out and nab all the good stuff. I can wait until good stuff turns up in a cache I want to hunt. To each their own I suppose, but it seems a bit shady. Chris
  8. I know I should just let this thread die, but how is this log entry from a WG top 10 bill really any different than placing a WG $ in a geocache? They put the bill in a container for someone else to find. WG's arguements vs. geocaching just lost all respect here. Chris
  9. We had a bit over a foot of snow befor this one .... ... and the coffee survived. Chris
  10. Well put bret. When I try to sign to my friend, who happens to be deaf if thats ok with some of you, I'm sure I sound like an idiot since ASL is not my primary language and I use it only when he visits. I make up signs when I don't know the right one and, I'm certain I use the wrong ones at times. I would imagine I sound as wrong to him as he does to me when he writes. NEVER once has he made fun of the way I sign and i don't make fun of the way he types. This thread is one of the worst displays af assiness by a few that I have ever read and I hope that at least a few people have managed to open their eyes since they posted. That said, Welcome to geocaching Deafhunt! Chris
  11. Thanks for the help! The cache is located on Kentucky Lake and has been approved. Happy Hunting!!!! Korn Grain Co.
  12. Sounds to me like we will eventually have to CITO it. Chris
  13. Log whatever you want ... I don't care. I'm out finding caches. Chris
  14. This is a 4/5 hide with a (to me) unknown land owner in a remote location. I know I saw this info in a thread a week or two ago ... I just can't find it again. It was an A to Z list of specific state and national areas where caches are forbidden and the reviewer who posted it said it was the list they use ... I just hate to unnecessarily waste a reviewers time if the info is readily available to me. The cache has already been placed and is awaiting review. Thanks Chris
  15. I have made fake rocks (not for geocaching) using 2" styrofoam and a circular saw and spray paint. Chris
  16. This was an A to Z specific listing ... I was looking for a specific area ... thanks though! Chris
  17. I know I have seen a reviewer post a list of restricted areas for cache placement but search as I may, I can't find it. Any help? Thanks Chris
  18. That's what I thought. I could prolly get them cheaper on the internet, but having them in town is convenient. You got them cheaper than I did. Chris
  19. Yesterday I was walking in my woods thinking it would be cool to have a multi with two or three different optional coordinates at each stage ... kind of like a choose your own adventure cache .... with everything eventually leading to a final. I don't think my woods is big enough to do it and it would take a lot of work, but I thought it was a nifty idea. Chris EDIT - I don't mean to derail this topic. It just reminded me of this. Sorry.
  20. I found them at a local sporting goods store. It the gun supplies area. Chris
  21. Sorry you are having a hard time placing your cache where it can be approved. Good news is that you get to spend another day outside in the fresh air doing something fun with your entire family! Woo Hoo!!!! Really, it's all a matter of perspective. Now get out there and have some fun! Chris
  22. So... do you practice what you preach? If nature calls, and your in the woods, do you go in a bottle? So what's so different between human pee and bear pee? The only possible difference I can think of is density. Our population density is much higher than most animal populations, which is why we have to take special sanitation measures in the first place (i.e. why we don't just poop in the street), but once the density of population in an area drops enough, the impact is no more than that of the animal population in the area. Yes .... I practice what I preach (though I bolded relevant text in my quote.) Poop goes in a "burrito bag" (you can look it up on-line or I can explain it to you if you like) and, dependant on the sensitivity of the area I am in, I only urinate if I cant wait or get to a restroom or don't have a bottle (20 or 32 oz. gatorade bottles with the wide opening work best.) I don't consider any of this extreme, I consider it responsible and it offsets the actions of those that don't give a crap about the world in which they live. I also go running around picking up trash and removing spray paint graffiti ... would anyone care to make fun of that, too please? Have a nice day and feel comfortable in the fact that you will never have to fret about running across my excrement in the woods. Chris - edit to add this smiley. I didn't mean to seem rude as I understand your opinion too.
  23. I think everyone with a touch of common sense could assume: A) Snow = tougher to find ... possibly exponential to amount of snow. 2) Snow = possible trail to cache (saves on GPS food hehe) c) Snow = less bugs and foliage to obscure vision. now, put on yer coat and go find yerself a cache! Chris
