  1. The Fall Picnic usually is check out the forum thread 2010 Indiana Fall Picnic
  2. My Earthcaches all say that I require unique answers from every account logging the find. Occasionally I get logs from people who ignore that, so I write to them and ask them for the required answers. If I don't get a response within a couple of days, I delete the log. Didn't even think about that additional wording. That would make it easier than waiting for all the other logs to be posted.
  3. Had a similar issue pop up yesterday. A wife of a cacher yesterday logged an EarthCache and back dated it to October. Said she was logging all caches found with her husband prior to getting her own caching name. When I checked yesterday she's been "active" with GC.com for less than a week and has over 1500 finds. There was no email to me with the required answers. The log stated that her husband sent the required answers at the time of their visit. Another photo was posted on the original log and I have no way to determine when it was uploaded. I don't keep everyone's emails once I verify the "find". So it is really up to you as the owner to make that determination. What's frustrating to me on mine is that the wife's profile doesn't mention that she is logging caches found while being with her husband. So, based on that do I delete the find. However, her photo has mysteriously appeared on her husbands logged for the same date. In your case I see it a little more simpler no photo, no email no find. Just my opinion.
  4. Again why add the "Needs Maintenance" log? If there is nothing wrong with the cache then why post that attribute. If you don't like snakes or other critters then don't do the cache. Now in my area it is Bald Eagle nesting time and a number of caches are being disabled because of the proximity of them to the nesting sites at the request of the DNR or property owners. However, posting "Needs Maintenance" because you might have a phobia to a critter???
  5. I'd be tempted to take that critter home. I would, of course, trade up for it if I could. I'd like a cache container that looks like this snake..... I like both ideas.
  6. Why does everyone want to use the needs maintenance? Take a picture like this then just move the critter away.

Been on both of the CITO's and they are great experiences. Thanks for putting them together. Too bad to see Jess move on but, I know you'll do a good job at this.

    ISQ Finds

This one may need some TLC. But, newbies are getting carried away with the "Needs Archived" and "Needs Maintenance" logs. Had one this weekend that logged a DNF then logged a "Needs Maintenance". It was found multiple times over the last few weeks. Checked it last night and the cache was still there. Rick, As long as I don't get stuck working Sunday, we'll try and get over there to check out the situation. And, we also agree that newbies are definitely getting carried away with their "Needs Archived/Maintenance" logs. We just adopted several ISQ's from Team Tigger International & Mystery Dog, and went out to check on them & replace log sheets and such last Friday. On Saturday, we get a "Needs Maintenance" log and it started out with "Couldn't find it......" Seriously, when did a "DNF" suddenly become a "Needs Maintenance"??? Here was the email that was sent back to me from the cacher that did the "Needs Maintenance". mea culpa...i apologize for the maintenance error...i only recently have used that button and was unaware of the implications...did not mean to offend... just that i too had a lot of security cars around us that day and was afraid that the cache had indeed been commandeered by them... happy caching...perhaps i'll be back this summer to try again !! From the sound of that and the DNF log I took it as they didn't try either.
  9. Wulf is in a union and tries to move as little as possible. Anyways....anyone coming to play with us at the Belle Isle event this weekend? Sorry, my brother is home on leave from playing Soldier gonna have a party.
  10. I know I have always made it a practice to follow up with an email. However, I know I've done some where I have never received any response from the owner. Didn't know if this would be an alternative to those who had an issue to any photo's that once they received an acknowledgment then they deleted their photo. I know TPTB are saying something different at this point however, there are still some great EC's out there that are asking for photos.
  11. Question for everyone. How many EarthCache owners send out acknowledgment emails to those that have completed all necessary requirements to log a cache? Reason why I'm asking is that the old photo requirements I would have no issue that once I verified all requirements if a someone really had an issue of their image being out there that they could then delete the photo. Still at this point I don't understand what the issue is with so many people being upset though with posting a photo at an EarthCache when you look at logs of them at other caches or events and they proudly post it there. And God forbid if you happen to be Facebook friends with them and you go to an event with them. You should see what they post there for the world to see. Just my take on the issue.
  12. Dawn, everyone is welcomed to attend. The more the merrier.

  14. You didn't keep copies of last years reservation?
  15. Star - hope she heals up quick. I'll keep her in my prayers. I've been out of caching this winter cause I did something stupid so, I know that recovery can be slow. Hope hers is speedy!!

    1576 CACHES?? Obama math
  17. Someone did that for each state. Actually think it was the top 5 but, don't remember where the thread was. Think ours were up in the Kendallville area because of the MWGB's.
  18. Come on people Spring will be here before we know it.
  19. Alright let's get this thing rolling again.

    ISQ Finds

That's out of my range. If it's in yours go for it. Any cacher can do an ISQ. Uh, not exactly. Cachers who want to join the quest as hiders need to contact us first. If they are literate and agree to our "8 simple Rules", as listed on our profile page, they're in!! ISQ has standards to maintain... Well, he wasn't from Illinois so I assumed he was literate.
  21. I'm not going to name the cachers however, there was a rash of them who were doing what Cav Scout and LostBy7 were stating. They were passing around the answers to EarthCaches and basically logging them and never leaving home. Once one cacher fulfills the requirements for an EarthCache then anyone can log it if they start passing around the answers. Only way to stop/police this is with the photo of the cacher at the location.
